Insurance runs out 21st so have renewed including the remap, little phoning/interneting and covered for £30 less than current insurance renewal would have been without the remap!

Was with LV. Surprised me, have engine management chip changed covers ECU remap, checked with them and saved transcript, no questions on increase just a simple "if it increases performance" that's it. Only have this as what I'd call a modification everything else is basic stuff. Different HU, towbar and disabled mods, I drive using hand controls a guidosymplex accelerator and braking system.

I wouldnt mention bout remap as they cant check that so why saying and pay more insurance, better to spend that money for more mods

insurance companies will do anything they can to avoid payment and its quite simple to plug in and check for a map.

in the biking world they have refused payouts because of stickers claiming it was an modification :no:.

its your choice but if you dont notify then your insurance is invalid and you are driving uninsured

It is not so much the worry of paying for damaged cars, but the cost if you were to kill or injure someone can run into hundreds of thousands and a little spell at her majestys pleasure.

Would be a very stupid thing to not tell your insurance company. If you cant afford to insurance hike then dont do it. Plus if you are spending money on other mods then will you not tell them about them either? My insurance is only going up by about £80 and I dont think there are any mods I can do for £80 anyway...

Any tuner can take an ecu and check if it's remapped. Simple way would be to take it out for a run and log it with vcds to check boost levels. A rolling road place was recently approached and asked by an insurance of they would check cars for them, as someone posted a similar comment on another forum about not bothering to tell insurance companies.....

Putting things in perspective. I checked around to see what price I could get insurance for without the remap and found I could lose £100 off my premium by going elsewhere so realistically having the remap has put @£70 on the premium. From my point of view the GB came at an ideal time as it meant I was easily able to see how much the remap was going to put my insurance up by without having to add it to my current policy.

Mine was similar. I had up until June to run on mine but wanted to fit the RARB I had bought. Shopped around as they wanted £80 to add that for the remaining 4 months and wouldn’t cover the map anyway.

Got lucky with no penalties for cancellation and comparing against a renewal for the car standard the quote for the map and any other mods that don’t go above the power limit was only £45 more than standard.

you will need to get hold of him for that one. you may find that he cant change it. a lot of the credit card companies wont let you send to a different address for security reasons and he will be bound by whatever rules come with his machine.

I am keeping this thread updated with info but suspect that there are still many PM'ing and calling anyway. so I wouldnt rely on him getting to your PM before he starts shipping.

Well if he still didnt have them friday, and TNT dont deliver to him on a weekend, and hasnt posted about receiving them , I guess we'll be looking at wednesday at the earliest now :'(

It does say on the first page 2-3 weeks after the 5th, and the week commencing the 28th march.
