What did you pay for 1st service ?

Featured Replies

With lots of Yeti owners coming up to or just had the 1st service (an oil change

and visual check over I'm told) it would be good to know what the going rate is.

Would also help to know if you are being quoted an over the top figure and give information

to maybe negotiate down.

My second nearest main dealer quoted about £90 which seams reasonable for what should

be around 30 minutes work (unless you know different).

If you can quote general area if you don't want to name dealer it would

help in comparisons (London area obviously have far higher labour rates).

This has been covered in another thread.

Mine was £225 - £108 for labour and the rest, incl VAT was for materials. Oil alone was £46 and there were filters to change.

£90 would just cover an oil and filter change without the rest of the service.

Prices are based on the Skoda UK list of charges.

That seems like a good price. I was quoted £125(fixed) and £185(variable)including VAT. I was told the difference in price was the type of oil used.

Asked for a quote for a 1st service not just 'an oil change'.

Where can you obtain a Skoda UK list of charges (I assume you mean for servicing??

I have been quoted an all in cost of £180 locally.

That is for a car on variable service and it will be needed in about 1,000 miles or about 19,000 since new. This also includes the use of a demonstrator for the day FOC.

I changed the oil and filter myself at 10k. 5L of Mobil fully synthetic to the proper VW spec + new filter and sump plug cost me about £45. The original oil still seemed quite good but the filter had clearly done its job properly and was quite black. It was a bit fiddly to do but well worth the effort.

Seems to support my point ...there is a large variation in charges assuming we are all talking

Skoda dealership charges.

Try a Skoda dealer.

Try a Skoda dealer.

Do they do fixed price servicing then as surely each dealer would otherwise

be quoting different Skoda UK prices?

Are you just saying ask a Skoda dealer for his prices?.

Hope this makes sense.

Skoda UK will not produce a "scale of charges" because each dealer is different. The overheads for a dealer in the South East is going to be much higher than one in West Wales, just on wage rates and business rates, for example.

Therefore, if you have more than one dealer in your area, check what each one charges.

You could even try haggling!

Thats my understanding...friend terfyn somewhat confused me.

And I'd guess the price differs depending on engine too.

Let you know what I pay. My SM going in tomorrow for it's first service at 10k plus a couple of minor warranty jobs.

Chris.

£90 for the first service and that's the proper service not just an oil change as someone suggested above.

Just had my first service at 17,000 miles.

The MFD said it was good for another 1800 but couldn't bring myself to wait that long.

I am on long life service and most of my driving is long motorway trips.

Full service (Oil, filters etc) was £159 from Alex Lawrie Liverpool, Mitchel Skoda quoted £195 and Crewe was £187. Alex lawrie were very good, collected the car, and brought it back, even washed and vacuumed it, even included a litre of oil for top ups.

  • 2 months later...

Booked mine in a for 1st Year service today cost £137.00

Got a wide variety of prices though some as high as £180 all from local Skoda dealers.

I have another 2500 miles to go to my first fixed service. As I drive around London all the time, the engine has probably done more time running than a car doing all motorway work and 18,000 miles....emoticon-0136-giggle.gif on variable servicing.

I paid £194 for a variable service on a 1.2 DSG I assume it would vary depending on engine type and capacity.

And where the garage is.

Overheads are likely to be higher at a city dealership than one out in a small rural town.

What £60 dearer for long life oil compared to std oil?

I would be giving them a very wide berth

The 1st service is basically just an oil and oil filter change and a visual check over though.

I was quoted £140 (Kent) for the 1st service on a CR170 (Superb - not that it makes a difference)

£90 would just cover an oil and filter change without the rest of the service.

I dont understand these comments regarding some people 'only getting an oil change' - this is the only physical aspect of the first service - they change the oil (think my invoice had parts replaced as oil, filter and sump plug). They also went over mine checking the first service inspection points (inc suspension and brakes etc), hooked it up to the machine to check for any outstanding updates to the ECU, radio firmware etc and gave it a proper wash outside and hoover inside. So Im wondering what else should they have done in the first service that I didnt recieve? :wonder: As I say, really impressive that it was just over £90 B)

Cardiff,

Cardiff,

So as I said, his overheads are probably going to be more than my dealer in Bridgnorth. It might be worth taking a trip down to Swansea, as the dealer down there seems cheap.

My dealer quote me £389 for 3 years service I think mine will be a variable service I only do 7000 a year so I do not know if this would be worth it

But I work in Cardiff about 1 mile from the dealer so I can get it done in work time.
