Featured Replies

Hello,

Some off you may know i have just brought a 53 fabia VRS. i have a full skoda history up to 80k and the car is now on 93k. My problem was i dont have any timing belt history. So i thought i would take the cam cover off and have a look to the condition of the belt.

i have taken some pictures of the belt and its wrighting on the belt. Its a DAYCO isoran belt..

Do you think this needs replacing, do you think this belt has done 93k, When do you think i should replace the belt..

Thanks for your advice...

I am no expert but if you are unsure get it replaced.

I Agree with Bradford!

Any doubts, Change it!

As your car is coming up for it's eighth birthday it would be due this year anyway!

You can't put a price on peace of mind!

agree with above posts, if u have no history of a belt change then its worth changing it. alot cheaper than if the belt snaps. also gives u that peace of mind

I totally agree with all statements got to save the pennys to get it done..

Thanks

I bought mine on 85k it hadnt had a belt ever and 5k over due a service. I tickled it home from York to Nottingham. ****ing my self it was going to go. i didnt start it again until id put a belt on it and given it a service!!

Cant put a price on piece of mind!! Get it done!

I got my belt kit from TPS for around £75

You can usually tell if the engine mounts have been undone aswell, They are a greeny colour usually worn in the tips if they have been off. These have to be removed to do the belt.

When you removed your belt did it have any off the white wrighting on it..

They all have writing on them of some sort, I never read it to see what it said though.

In my opinion it doesnt look like its been done in the last 30k (very hard to tell and cannot be sure)

Skoda recently changed the limits to 60k miles or 4 years for the PD130

Going on that assumption its 32k overdue!

I have seen a 1.9tdi go 144k on the same belt but that was visably cracked. NOT good! Refused to MOT it!!
