Opinions welcome. I can still access the spare wheel before anyone says it's in practical. :D

Practical? Does the spare fit over 312's?

I like it though, great looking car

yes, this was discussed a while back. The spare does apparently fits over 312s.

If it didn't, you'd swap an alloy to the front and chuck the spare on the rear....

I never thought of that haha. But yeah as Gareth said that's a option

Car looks smart in those pics mate. You using a machine polisher or a good old bit of elbow grease?

  • Author

Elbow grease mate. Keep meaning to get a machine polisher but just gna wait till my birthday now lol

What polish and wax are you using? Pic of wheel reflection in the door is awesome...

Autoglym SRP then Turtle wax ice liquid wax

very very very very clean

Looking clean Tas B)

Have you tried poorboys black hole??? - it is really good for dark coloured cars and I know of a few black fabia owners on here that'll vouch for it

Poorboys black hole real good especially for filling in small marks and swirls

  • Author

Yeah use that alot but doesn't go well with SRP according to numorous threads I read on DW

looking very nice mate,im after a new exhaust, where did you get yours from?looks sweet.

What do you use to clean the exhaust tailpipe ?

  • Author

Exhaust is a custom powerflow mufflerectomy.

Auto glym metal polish

Autoglym SRP then Turtle wax ice liquid wax

Lovely and clean looking. I used the same wax as you but I didn't think it lasted to long. The wax seemed to come over after about 2 washes and I was careful to use Meguairs Classic Shampoo. Though I did only give it the one coat...

+1 for Poorboys Blackhole.

Think Im gonna purchase so e colinite 476

i wouldn't

I think that stuff is an awful excuse for a wax....

I use collinite, very good

Tas - Your Shark sticker on the boot lid is larger than the one I got sent recently, and have noticed your mates cars have the smaller stickers too. Is your's an older one, hence being slightly bigger? Just looks better IMO.

Si.

What don't you like Gareth? I've found it to be great personally. What products do you use?

ok, maybe I was a little harsh.

TBF to the collinite, it is rather hard wearing and long lasting - but (imo) deffo more of a winter mode wax when it's a chore to get outside and 'properly' clean the car

Being the detailing freak you are Tas, I'd opt for something like Dodo juice purple haze - much better product, not too pricey and designed for dark coloured cars.

Black hole, topped with purple haze would look B) on black magic...

I find it a pain to apply & remove by hand, there are much easier waxes to work with.

To it's credit it is a fairly hard wearing wax that lasts a while. But, if you clean your car regularly, that quality is wasted, so (IMO) you may as well use a better product.

As for my products, I probably have too many to list from memory....

For polish, it really depends on whether i'm applying by hand or machine. As a cheap polish, ATM I really cannot fault black hole - it is superb. If the porter cable is being used it'll probably be a megs polish, but will vary depending on the state of the car (80,82 or 83).

For waxes, my flavour of the month is currently Clearkote Vanilla Moose wax - purely for the smell  . I am also a fan of the dodo juice, pinnacle, poorboys ranges...

The only products I'm not too keen on are anything by Autodirt and Collinite 476...

Fair comment, I am yet to try dodo juice, but may give it a go sometime. I find using a small amount of colly works best and rub off immediately, and I've yet to have a problem removing the residue. Works on the wood in the garden too :giggle:

That's cool mate - whatever works for you. Kinds sums up this place and life in general - different people do different things.

Collinite just didn't work for me, and unfortunately, i'm the kinda guy that will move off to another product after a single bad experience. It's just my nature - I feel that there are so many other options out there, why compromise on my demands/desires?

Liking the new sig Si

Back on topic - If you fancy trying some collinite Tas, chuck me some postage monies and i'll send you a virtually full tub
