Featured Replies

Forgive to poor spelling/Long day.

Friend is wroking an an Rover prject and has read that GP teams use Cermic paint to keep the heat in the exhurst pipes. Both for engine bay reduced temps and because Hotter gasers flow faster.

Just wondering if you can get hold of this paint? I belive it need to be baked on at 500 degress C!

Any thought/information?

Cheers

Mike

I don't think ceramic coating an exhaust manifold (or any other part) is a DIY job - it needs special application techniques.

I've just done a quick Google, and come up with:-

http://www.zircotec.com/

http://www.bmspc.co.uk/index.htm

There is a fair amount of information on those sites

Exhaust wrap is an easier DIY option. Available from Demon Tweeks, think you may get a 10% discount on it)

Demon Tweeks do a Ceramettallic paint called Black Satin and there is a chrome finish one called Ceramakrome which is to quote the catalogue ( Pg227 of the 2004 Profesional catalogue) 'the most effective thermal barrier available, the first needs no baking, the second needs baking at 500 deg F....in an oven! Just dont put the sunday roast in with it!!!

LOL! Didn't know about the non-bake stuff.
