vRS TFSi Estate S/H pricing

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of reluctantly selling my lovely Octavia TFSi Estate in the next month or two -

I've checked Parkers tonight and it has £11,445 for a private sale in good condition with 20k miles. Mine has the full vRS leather, rear airbags, silver rails, rear elec windows, ipod connection and jumbo box too and only has 12k miles. It'll have 3 service stamps from the same franchhise dealer too when I sell and is in superb condition!

I'm interested to see what the membership thinks may be achievable in today's market, as I'm always unsure whether online guides are up with the market and there aren't many around my neck of the woods! Your comments would be appreciated please - many thanks.

do an autotrader search and keep your eyes out to see what shifts. used prices at dealers seem to be high and holding but thats what they are selling for, not what they will buy.

You don't say what age/reg your car is.

I am amazed how strong used car prices are at the moment. I don't know how long this strong market will keep going though. A lot of people will be getting redundancy notices over the next few months and not only will they not be in the market for a car, they'll probably be selling the one they have. What with that and the effects of inflation and higher taxes I think I'd be inclined to sell before Easter at the best price you can get.

Fair points thanks. It's on an 08 reg (start of August 2008) so just gone 2.5 years old.

Had an Autotrader search for similar and it seems I could only find 3 at present in that era. Mine has a few more options than most (maybe minus parking sensors) and has low miles & the full retrim which wasn't an option like it is now and cost £1400 - I'd think this one is fairly rare.....

Bear in mind that extras don't necessarily add value to the car, they just make it easier to sell. You certainly won't see anything like £1400 for having leather, it might add £300. The other things you mentioned are not uncommon and I think a lot of clued up buyers will expect the Jumbo box, electric rears etc. Having said all that the car is worth what one person will pay for it - let it go to a dealer and he'll give you a lot less than you could get selling privately of course. Find the right buyer and as long as it's not priced stupidly high you could get a lot more than others are going for.

Just as an aside, don't think that a car with less miles will automatically be worth a lot more. I would look at the mileage and if it was lower than average think has this car been doing lots of short journeys? That's what kills cars, not a car with an average 20k a year, as they will more than likely been on motorways where there is little stress on any components - no sharp corners, minimal braking, car is up to operating temp etc. Might be something you think up an answer to if you do come to sell to deal with the punter like me!

Personally about 12-13k

haha you know if i hadnt have bought the lemon thats in gettin several repairs just now i would have bought it off you.

Used car prices might be high but trade-ins offers are cack.

Mind you that's nothing new.

I only read your "Yay I've picked up the car!" thread a week or so ago!

ugh good grief were do i start mate.

Drivers headlight has water in it also they arent sitting properly they are xenons so need the base plates levelled correctly and lights re aligned.

Clutch release bearing is making a rumbling noise

Drivers seat bolsters have collapsed

Service light is on

Heated rear screen works when it likes

Pollen filter hasnt been changed

I've had a call from Skoda UK who reliably told me that if Border Skoda cant repair it properly then i will get a refund, which is news to me i have heard nothing from the dealer when they picked the car up on Tuesday.

To say i'm not very pleased is a major under statement.

They gave me a courtesy car..... Toyota Auris 60 plate 1.3VVTi big mistake on attempting to overtake a truck yesterday i'm sure the driver laughed at us as we were level for about 2 miles lol

Fooksake. Hope you get it all sorted/refunded! They're normally great cars, honest!

That sounds hellish - an ex workmate of mine ignored my advice to return the s/h X5 he bought over a year back when he could and he STILL hasn't got it sorted properly! Thousands of pounds later and hardly any miles done and I bet he's regretting it still....

U know where I am if you're still keen!

Just read your post again - yes, I know I'm biased here, but I'd be sorely tempted to ditch it as you're rightly entitled to! And mine is still under warranty until August lol
