Of course it exists. Just depends on how much you want to pay...

If you wont to pay lots of cash Snapon and Mac are the best, but for a starter kit you wil get good value from

Tengtools Very good value ,you can get start up kits and add as you go along I found this on Stealbay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TENG-TC8140NF-140-PIECE-SERVICE-KIT-/230589811352?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item35b0394a98

But i would look at what type of work you will be doing and buy any specialist tools as you need them .

I have just shopped around for tools which I have bought largely piecemeal there are good deals out there if you are prepared to compromise.

Buying an all in one kit generally entails an unformed compromise anyway, some of the higher end stuff like Snap-on may be better on that though.

Whichever way you go Murphy's law will still mean that the tool you actually need is not in your box !

I really like the Halfords professional range. Same quality as Snap On & MAC and also same lifetime warranty. You break it during intended use and they change it.

I have this set (along with a fair few other bits) that i bought about 4 years ago

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_173083_langId_-1_categoryId_165572

The 1/2" Drive broke recently and i took mine in to my local store and they swapped it for a new one there and then no hassle.

i like

Machine Mart Clarke Pro range are very good with a lifetime warranty and very good prices.

Cheaper than Halfords and a better range.

Given that the OP has 'India' as his location he's unlikely to have a Machine Mart or Halfords locally.

Best bet is to get some mid-range general socket and spanner set (which should include 16mm and 18mm) and some screwdrivers and a Torx set.

Anything else should be bought as the need arises.

Buying Snap-On would be a complete waste of money for a non-professional.

I wouldn't buy a massive cheap toolset, buy just a few decent quality items. Tools i use:

17mm socket for the wheel bolts

13mm socket, everything needs a 13mm socket on VAG :giggle:

Torx bits, variety, engine undertray is T27 from memory? Might be wrong, but there's enough different sized Torx fasteners on VAG cars that i'd buy a small torx set T-6 to T30 only the not every size between them, only the 6 popular sizes, im sure something suitable will jump out if you search, a rail of 6 assorted torx bits with a 3/4 or 1/2 drive. Buy something decent quality to avoid stripping the fasteners though.

General purpose screwdriver set, flat head and cross heads

Hex socket for the brake calipers, can't remember the size though but search should find it

10mm socket for the battery posts and a few others

socket extension bar... actually that's a few sockets on the list now, maybe cheaper with a metric 3/4" or 1/2" set that comes with ratchet & extensions

19mm socket for the oil sump plug (cheaper than a 19mm spanner)

Caliper windback tool, clockwise for VAG rear calipers

Wire brush

Sundries:

WD40

Brake cleaner

Copper grease, small tube dont need a big pot

White lithium grease (for hinges, locks, gear linkages and what not)

Can;t think right now but those are all usable all the time on VAG cars.
