Oh OK - it looked like it was at the back from the pic. Shows how much I know about it. So what you've built is a kind of warm air exhaust, in effect?

in standard form the air flows throught th efornt bumper over the intercooler then hits the wheel arch liner and stops. TT's have a vewnt to allow the air to flow out through the arch.. ive just improved the idea... hopefully dropping the charge temp..

Great! and the mesh comes from .....?

halfords / b+q

i used some rgm styling mesh cos it was the first thing i found..

Ta - I had never heard of it so wasn't sure how freely available it would be.

no worries nice porker...;)

How did you secure the mesh? Through rivots?

silicon seal - and a tie wrap at each corner.... very hi tech.

Paul,

going to try the wire mesh on the grill next? I'd be interested in how that turns out.

Reagrding the vent in the RHS arch; what size does it have to be and what's it's location?

Cheers.

Adrian.

mines about 9" x 6" but not sure how critical it is...

Presumably you made it so it was behind the bulk of the i/c?

yep.. just cut a hole.. silicone seal a piece of mesh on the i/c side and secure with a tie wrap in each corner to hold till the silicone sets....

dead simple.

Done - obviously difficult to measure any benefit - but I have just driven to work with my best fuel consumption figures ever, so maybe there is one ..... :D

I have some pics of the process - dead simple for anyone else who fancies having a go at this. I used cheap body filler reinforcing mesh for now - it may need replacing with something sturdier if a stone hits it or something. I'll get some pics uploaded tonight.

cool... is it now a briskoda approved mod... ?

Look forward to seeing the pics and hearing more about any performance changes including fuel cons. It stands to reason that if there is no exit for the air out of the box at all there is very little air flow through the IC and it cant be running efficiently. With a rear exhaust the increased flow must reduce the outlet temp.

Alongside the bass tip!

I see another FAQ proposal coming up... ;)

maybe...;)

i will have to take some proper pics...

Paul,

Did you notice any performance change? I'll take a look for some RGM as it looks stronger than wire mesh. Halfords you say?
