The time has almost come

I'm just about to set off and hand over my Octy Scout to MSB in Darlington, deal with the paperwork for me to collect the SM on Tuesday and drive away in a courtesy car for the (no doubt very long-seeming) four days in between.

Very excited to see the SM - just hope they've got the right one, haven't crocked it in their compound, etc., etc.

Good luck! When I knew mine was at the dealers I could not wait to go and see it... Enjoy the Fabia/Roomster what not they give you! And I'm sure you will be sad too as I'm sure the Scout was an amazing car as well...

Your monster will sure feel good after 4 days of a loaner....Enjoy! :giggle:

Actually excited for you, Andrew - let's hope it's A1!

Yes, it's there and I've seen it and it appears to be as ordered (although it was outside in the rain so I didn't give it a forensic checkover). Supaguard will be done on Monday (my cherished plates are already on it), and I'm collecting at 11 am on Tuesday. In the meantime, I've been loaned a brand new Octavia TDI saloon demonstrator (only 150 miles on thew clock), which is quite nice. Yes, I will miss the Scout but am sure I will like the Yeti at least as much and will find it a better shape/size overall. Thanks to those who understand and share my sad level of excitement at this time! SWMBO has tartly remarked that she hopes I'm equally enthusiastic about the birth of our first grandchild in July!

have you checked to see if the protective foils are on the car for stone chipping?

Yes they are - that was one of the first things I looked for!

Enjoy the wait. emoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

It WILL be worth it.

Am I right in understanding that they are now a standard factory fit for all Yeti's? Or did you order the off road pack?

Good Luck with your car....hope you have many miles of trouble free motoring! I'm handing over our current car on Saturday but will have an approximate four month wait until our Yeti arrives.

They have been standard Yeti fit since week 44 of 2010..........

Was there a specifc reason you part exchanged the Scout rather than attempted to sell it privately?

As a proud and very happy Octavia Scout owner I'm amazed how used values have rocketed since I bought mine (used) 18 months ago.

So much so I'm looking for another one, the wife drives ours and I'd like one to replace my ageing Peugeot but haven't been able to due to their used price increases!

I'd be very interested to see how much the dealer advertise your Scout for on their forecourt and how long it ends up being for sale. Would you mind sharing age / spec / mileage?

Sorry to hijack a Yeti thread, it's just I appreciate the reasons I bought my Scout are very similar to those of you who chose a Yeti and so spend as much time here as I do on the Octy forum!

I very much hope you enjoy your Yeti too, please post some photo's when you get it home

I did p/x rather than private sale in part due to (i) laziness, (ii) not having to worry about actually getting the money, and (iii) being out in the sticks and so without a large nearby catchment of potential buyers. I only changed from the Scout as we really do not need the boot space any more and a shorter car will be easier for parking etc. (and I have fallen for the charm of the Yeti!). My Scout was registered in August 2008 (so 08 plates), mileage was only 23,700; as you're probably aware, there is only one standard spec level for the Scout but mine additionally had Columbus satnav, 6 CD changer, leather upholstery and multifunction steering wheel. It will be a good buy for someone - it was in pristine condition: I assume it will be advertised by MSB soon, and I too will be interested to see their price compared with what they gave me for it!

SUrely when they start popping grandchildren come along more often than new cars, for a few years at least :giggle:

Anyway- you can always hand the grandchildren back- the Yeti will always be there for you

With that spec and mileage I'm reckoning around £16,500...

*watching Skoda's used car selector with interest!*

Just 18 hours to pick-up now ... will I sleep tonight? At least the forecast is for a bright and dry day in these parts tomorrow so the SM shouldn't get too mucky on its first journey home!

Enjoy! Take some photos, Muscavado and Gobi is probably my favourite combination!

Thanks, James - I'll do photos when I can but will have to learn the uploading bit first.

Me too - my wife is coming with me and wants to go to Tesco with the new SM: not sure that supermarket car parks are a good idea on its first run out!

Tell the wife she can shop while you guard the car or get yourself one of these, lol

Could do with this in certain parts of the country.

Enjoy your new beastie tomorrow, and get some sleep, don't want you bending it on the first day now do we teacher!!!!

Mike

Hi Andrew

My clock says ONE in the morning, so by my reckoning you're nearly half way through not sleeping for tonight, and just in case you happen to tap into the site when you're up and about padding restlessly from room to room, swabbing your fevered brow as you go, I thought I'd just say - "Well done on getting there, eventually, and DO enjoy your first sojourn in your new beast"!!

Mind you dont stall it as you approach the first roundabout, as a few on here have done in the past! Give it some welly, but not too much (difficult I know)

And then, on Wednesday, photos and a list of questions please!
