Engine Judder

Featured Replies

Have just got my VRS tdi back from the garage after having an injector replaced and I now seem to have a problem with a juddering engine. The problem manifests itself at between 1500 and 2200rpm under a reasonably heavy load. It seams to disappear after 2500rpm but frankly is making driving terrible...little point in having heaps of low down power if the engine doesn't like it.

Anyone got any ideas before I throw the keys back at the garage on Monday morning???

Could be DMF - but that would be a large coincidence.

Could be the injector wiring loom as they go brittle, as it will have been disturbed it could be this.

Also, could be the EGR valve sticking.

I would get some Redex and dose a full tank of diesel and see if that helps.

Also, check all the vac pipes and electrical connectors to EGR / MAF etc to check they are connected securely.

Do you have anyone near you with VCDS who could scan to see if you are getting an intermittent fault on anything?

I've had the fault codes read and nothing. I've discounted dodgy fuel from the AA as I have refilled twice since and the problem hasn't gone away. There aren't any management lights flashing up either, just the judder.

The garage seem to think it's down to oil quality (despite being serviced less than a month ago) and think the oil pick-up pipe may be partially blocked. They've suggested taking the sump off, cleaning the pipe and new oil......I've suggested that they need to fix my car ASAP as it wasn't juddering before the injector fault!!!

Anyone else had the same experience? Is long life servicing and the resultant sh1te in the oil causing the problem??
