Milltek = Good, E-Bay = Bad

Featured Replies

Well, I've had a mixed few days.

Started modding my fabia on the weekend - strut brace, cupra intake, green filter... All good, and the strut brace makes a real difference!

My new Alpine HU arrived on monday after I had bought it on E-Bay. I was assured that it was full UK spec etc. but when it arrived, it was clearly US spec - ie no iso adapters, no rds, lots of hardwiring to do.:mad::mad:

Basically, very few car stereo fitters will fit this for me and there is no warranty so I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a UK spec one from eg. CEL Direct. I have learnt a lesson though - bargain hunting does not always pay! It's worth paying a little extra for that piece of mind!

Anyway, today I've been to AMD to have a milltek exhaust fitted to my car. It sounds great - not too loud, but loud enough to drown out most of the diesel clatter! You can hear the turbo spinning up much quicker too - when you wind the windows down, it is much louder as well. I'm really happy with this purchase, and the chaps at AMD were first class... :D

So there we have it... I have a remap booked in two weeks which is good :D , but a new HU to get which is not  .

Thanks for reading my rant... if you have any advice on what to do with my US spec HU, please let me know!

Dave

Roll on remap time!

Is the exhaust any different in sound to mine Dave?

Just curious.

Give him negative feedback!

How much is the miltek exhaust mate?

Looking forward to getting my exhaust fitting Friday even more now. :D

Matt,

From memory, it is slightly louder than yours, but not a great deal of difference really. It certainly sounds a lot more purposeful now, particularly with the green panel filter (basically a replacement performance cotton filter from a company called 'green').

As I can't hear the engine sound as much, and the exhaust note is quite a bit lower in tone, I've found myself revving further through the rev range without noticing - the pick-up is certainly quicker, but I'm sure the remap will bring it to the next level!!! :D

FYI, the cost of exhaust plus fitting and VAT was

Put the headunit back on E-bay ?

Seriously tho, would love to hear the Furby now.

Did you pay through paypal, and did the listing have a Paypal Buyer Protection logo? If so you can get a refund from Paypal if you state the item wwas significantly different to the description in the listing. If not, try the dispute resolution service, you might get somewhere. Have you emailed the seller and complained?

Lay the smack down on the seller! That's disgusting, and sounds like a blatant mis-description! :grumpy:

edit: Post a link ;)
