Guys,

Yet another mechanical malady has befallen my Octavia Vrs.

I now have a 17.5 Valve 1.8T engine.

Can someone please confirm that this is an AUQ engine so i can try and source a second hand head?

Solutions and suggestions always welcome.

might be cheaperto replace just the valve in question

it was on the overun at about 60 mph on an A-Road on the way home from work.

At the very best i'm looking at a second hand head, next having the valves reconditioned or worst a new head.

A fitter in Shrewsbury is going to have a better look tomorrow to see how much damage done.

I didn't think it sounded to bad when it went but aparently it's dropped quite severly from what he can see under the rocker cover.

Any clue on costs for valves fitted and balanced?
