Featured Replies

Anyone on here fitted one to a Fabia/1.9 TDI before?

im sure its got one as standard????

seem to remember some people having issues with theirs leaking causing coolant to go black?

could be wayyyyyyyyyyyy off the mark though

Er yes Skoda did, it's standard fitting.

I mean a proper front mounted one

your level of sarcasm makes me LOL but your knowledge is **** hot (Y)

meant in a nice way of course

as for the front mounted one oil should ideally be upto temp as quickly as possibly and remain at certin temp to make sure engine is kept in optimum condition. cooling the oil too much can actually cause damage to the engine

Would only be needed on a pure track day car. Optimal oil temp is 80c to get the correct viscosity. Over cooled oil is a bad thing. Sludge inhibitors don't work correctly. So to fit a proper FMOC would involve running car at required power, and working out the oil temp, then select an oil cooler with a surface area that would hold 80c oil temp.

Cheers for that, Ali at Unit 18 mentioned everything was getting really hot and as I have several track days planned for this year said it might be an idea to fit one. He said it would have a thermostat to only cool when above Xc. I believe devonutopia has one on his Fabia?

Ali at unit 18 knows his stuff mate, can't go far wrong there. Just don't do an e-bay special and stick on any old cooler.
