Rear Wheel Wishbone Corrosion

Featured Replies

Whilst I was under the car last weekend, I noticed that the seam on the rear wishbones and both lost their paint and were red with rust.

Talking to my dealer, he stated that this was not a fault as you could expect corrosion there.

He compared it to the rust which would appear on the hub of a brake disc.

He also stated that it was not a structural risk, as the wishbone's strength would not be affected by its edge corroding.

I have since covered the rust with Hammerite.

Does any one else have this rust problem, I appreciate that your knees could be a factor in survey.

Hi,

Corrosion on these components is quite normal and most will last without issue through the lifetime of the vehicle. Have limited internet access at the moment so cannot access the SMOC flickr group but there photos of my previous Monsters suspension setup after a 3 months of winter driving and this light corrosion is all over the place.

Hope that helps,

TP
