Forge Recirc Valves

Featured Replies

Ok, ill come clean... despite a number of people voicing their disapproval of this type of valve i have obtained myself on the cheap unexpectedly a brand new Forge Split-R DV.

Now i dont necesserily want the 'trumpet' fixture on, the fact its called a trumpet makes me cringe a little, i will i expect be running full recirc.

the only problem is this ...

You can adjust the valve via the top ratchet, fully anti-clockwise provides the least resistance and is the safest,

BUT, you have to little resistance then you loose boost because the valve is going every 5 seconds.

you have it too stiff then it doesnt go when it needs to and potentially cause BIG BANG TURBO! damage that will hurt my wallet.

I can see the point in these valves, so that when you map your car and are running at a higher boost pressure, you can adjust the valve to suit.

I wanted to get the 007p, but with the option to run this at full recirc i think is the same, it just has the hassle of setting up. New and Cheap genuine forge product... i couldnt help it!

somebody posted this on a online forum

The Split R valve should be turned all the way to the left (ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT)

When the engine is fully cold , been off for hours or over night

Then start the car , leave to get warm , then when the valve starts to make a noise turn to the right

Carry on turning to the right until the noise has stopped , when all up to normal running temp , turn the top 2 more clicks

It does not take long , nor does it take someone very intelligent or have special skills in mechanics , just patience

Is this correct you reckon. Im a little scared to turn it to the right, but its ****ing me off thinking that i could potentially be loosing boost.

If any1 has fitted one before and had it set up nice please give me some advice.

The Car:- 03 Octavia VRS, completely standard apart from this valve, standard boost the lot.

Thanks for any help and apologies for the long post :) frrrruuuusssstrrraaaatttiiinnnggg!

Right sorted, I went to work today with it on the slackest setting for safety, spraying boost everywhere, no torque quite horrible.

Ive seen many listings on the forums of people asking with no straight answer given.

Well heres a straight answer from me:

Go to the forge motorsport website and ring the number,

Somebody (in this case a nice polite sounding lady) asked me the model of car, age, and tuning level (i said standard), and they will give you some values.

So she said always turn the ratchet as far to the left as possible regardless of vehicle as this puts the val;ve at the slackest possible setting.

for an Ovtavia VRS 1.8T 03 plate Standard unmapped (my car)

Standard map :- rotate the ratchet 16 clicks clockwise from slack

Stage 1 map :- rotate the ratchet 21 clicks clockwise from slack

Stage 2 map :- Ive forgotten off the top of my head.

So to re-itterate, Turn the ratchet to its furthest point anti clockwise (left), as far as it will go, then count the clicks turning clockwise (right) as per the above table

Hope this helps now ive found the answer to that frequently asked question.

apparently these things are a bitch to get set up just right. but dont feel bad about buying one. just cos everyone on here is running a 007p doesnt mean you have to follow suit. its your car at the end of the day. forge do have a workshop and personally i would want one of their techs to adjust it for me, more to put my mind at rest. just keep doing what your doing and im sure with slight tweaks you will get the best setting for you in the end

sorted it this evening... runs beautiful ... well i rang forge and i di egsactly what THEY told me too, so im not going to take it and pay sum muggins in a garage to do the same (and probably **** it up :p )

I dont feel bad id rather have the adjustable tbh i reckon, got it running as full recirc

Got it brand new and dirt cheap for like £50, i have a friend with a skoda too and he got sent 2 in the post when he only bought one, so i had it off him :p

All around i like the valve and the way it performs now its setup right.

I really dont see how people are having problems... took me 10mins 1 phone call lol :)

thats good to hear mate  i dont actually run a 007p or a compbrake but ive never had troubles before and im on a stage 2 map. glad to hear you get it sorted tho fella, just goes to show send a bit of time on something and you will get there in the end. any other mods??

CAI came today, fitting it tommorow at work.

Ive got an awful lot planned.

Ordered my single DIN 52mm 3 gauge holder

And i order the gauges tommorow, Boost pressure, Oil Pressure, and Air fuel mix .... i like the gauges from stack.

Only thing that might hold me up is the fact to get the wider band O2 senser thingy for a precise reading for the air fuel instead of just lean rich optimal DAMNED EXPENSIVE!

I begin my brake disc and pad upgrades next week, one end of the car at a time else i wont be able to stop for a week.

The weathers gotten all sunny, and like a spring lamb... ive appeared.
