Window Rattling

Featured Replies

The driver's side window rattles when it is down, can I fix this or is it a big job?.

Probably about to fall into the door. I assume it's electric windows?

Yes it is an electric window. I hope it's not about to fall into the door, going on a course next week in Eastbourne , do you think I should keep the window up or will it still drop down.

Mine's done this for over a year, and struggled to go up properly. If you find an easy cure, I'd love to know! Leaving it till it falls for now though.

Don't leave it or it will jam / fall and that could be expensive. It sounds as though it is loose in the supporting clips. There are two clips holding the window and the plastic ones break. If you're lucky, the bolts which hold them tight are loose. Check window is in right place before tightening. If you take off the trim, there is a hole in the metal frame through which you can see/tighten the clips without fully dismantling. If clips are broken then look through here for threads on taking out the cassette which holds the winder mechanism. It isn't difficult. Good luck.

Will have to wait till I get back from the course.

This always happened with my driver's door and still does. I took it to a Skoda dealer and they fitted a new regulator under warranty. This cured it for a bit, but then it came back. It's been doing it for about 9months now and it hasn't dropped.

The window did not rattle today, I washed the car yesterday so maybe this was the course?.

This could have been the cause. Is the car still under warranty?
