Any dangers of carnage when doing it?

Went to do it myself but opted out knowing that it could fail an m.o.t next year or year later.

Bugger it. They're there for a reason so just leave it there and just clean it out.

Cheers mate.

Any other views?

Mine's due for MOT Tuesday so I'm going to ask about this possible change. There is no way mine can ever be put back to standard in terms of EGR - There's no EGR point on my tubular manifold... funnily enough! :giggle:

My link

What is the brass outlet hose connector for that screws into the flange?

Also what is the diamond shaped plate/gasket for?

Cheers

Daz

brass outlet is if you want to run a boost gauge so you have the option

diamond plate and gasket gets mounted onto turbo manifold

all pretty self explanatory when you see it

why people fit these i dont know...time and money wasted...

just disconnect and plug the rubber hose that activates it....when you go for mot reconnect it.

I think the mot fail thing is rumour and not much more I don't understand how it's a fail I doubt there going to look for it!

emmission regulations are changing.....will fail when it does.

The egr restricts flow and gets rid of the oem connectors

Good enough reason for me

Plus it looks nicer and makes attaching hose work easier/neater, etc... I'm all for it personally!

yes oem egr blocked off works, but the egr has a venturi effect on airflow

egr delete will offer better flow, but will it pass emissions in the future

only time will tell

Surely a really restrictive map will allow it to pass an MoT without an EGR?

Does any one know how much the egr delete changes emissions I don't think anyone can know for sure that it's going to fail as I doubt any one has done a before and after, emissions can be a factor of many things as well!

cant be much as mine has 270bhp with it in place...:wonder:

cant see it for engine cover..:p

moggy said not long ago in a thread emmission changes will make it fail if removed .

Im presuming that moggy is a fellow briskodian and not your cat? But your car won't produce the same amount of emissions all the time or will it?won't injectors fuel ect ect have a part to play, ie had a friend who failed on emissions then put some sort of injector cleaner in his tank then took it for a boot next thing he passed, I'm not saying your wrong as I have no mechanical experience, just seems odd that people are so sure it's defiantly going to fail?

Lol what ever.

I'm not arguin, but doubt you've actully seen inside of a egr valve.

Exactly why i was wanting to do i mate.......makes it alot easier connection wise for when i make the pipes for my front mount.........'the old one off your car' ;) lol.

So will it cause any long term affects to my engine?

I know alot of you have done it already but is there any risks involved?

pmsl...

a spindle about 5mm thick running thru the centre with a release plunger at the bottom is that about right?

so if it reduces flow and mine runs at peak 2.3 bar would it run higher with a delete pipe in situ?
