Haven't seen a Common Emerald moth for a long time.  But I don't blame it for having a rest in the cool on our stairs:

We visited Sheffield park (in Surrey earlier) - well known for Water Lilies apparently.

 

Loads of dragonflies around too

Certainly glad to see the back of this today!

Spotted this earlier - Google image search reckons it's a Eurasian basket tail dragonfly (? the husk left behind after it hatched)

Quite pleasant when we arrived, but think we may get wet!

 

Misjudged their flightpath, so not the best photos of the Red Arrows en-route to the Commonwealth games this evening

Last night's moon 

Lucky enough to spot a Kingfisher at close quarters today.

 

First time I've seen one up close, just a shame I only had my compact camera with me

I heard a grasshopper chirping, real close while we were at Bedgebury Pinetum today.  I mean really close, like it was right next to me, and it was just as clear when I was 20' further on:

 

 

He was on my shoulder, but hopped on to my elbow as I went to take a photo.  Family in background (mine, not his).

Stunning (and full) Moon this evening ...........

 

 

Was quite atmospheric up Beachy Head tonight.  Found a nice quiet spot, then the world and his mother joined me:

 

 

 

Always amazes me how many people turn up, and leave their engines running and lights on.  One bright spark eventually turned her lights off as people were moaning, then promptly left, with only her DRL's on.

Love the sunflowers, Beefy. We've been growing some, and one of them grew weird at the top making it look heart shaped. 

We have lots of bees on our ball thistles (echinops?) as well
