Best Settings for Bolero

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm sorry if this has been posted before but can anyone suggest the best settings for the Equaliser on the Bolero?

I tend to listen to all sorts of music - from plain old pop on FM to talk radio and heavy metal on the iPod.

I've noticed that the tweeters are in an awful place but I'd rather not go down the road of modding.

Thanks in advance. :)

Your ears are your best friend, play a mixed short list of songs from diff. Genres and find the acceptable level.

If its anything like the stream i find that i'm constantly tickering with the settings depending on genre, and quality of source. But it seems that the bolero is better than the stream which is why i want to upgrade.

Whatever sounds best to you, really. But bear in mind that your ears will become accustomed to a particular setting, so it's probably best to tweak it as you see fit, then come back to it perhaps the following day with "fresh ears".

\m/ ROCK! :-)

Do the capacitor mod, what a difference that makes to your poor ears. I only did the front two, not going to do the rears they don't need it IMO. 50pence from maplins and 15 mins dismantling the door handle (handle's tricky) couple of mins soldering on a new cap each side.

Its not the position, it's the tweeters themselves - they sound very harsh with the lower end sound range they are meant to reproduce. My personal opinion is the skoda sound guys spent all their time with the 12 speaker setup, then when they had to do the 8 speaker variant they just removed the middle speaker and called it a done job, despite the tweater really not being suitable to take the range of sound that was going to it.

Thanks lads. I'm going to sit in the car today and have a play around with the Bolero to see what suits me best.

RE: the tweeters that's exactly how I feel! They're very, very harsh and I wondered originally was it their placement as opposed to their quality/intended purpose. When ordering the car I decided against ordering the 12 speaker upgrade considering it wasn't the Dynaudio package in the VWs and also the fact I'd doubt I'd get 550 euros worth of a sound upgrade from an OEM upgrade.

And yeah..I love to ROCK OUT!! AWWW HELL YEAH!!!

As a 59yo with mild tinitus and some hearing loss I prefer the POP setting. But nothing like spending a bit of time fiddling with a few favourite albums.

I was once told of a track by radiohead called 15 Step to help set up speakers as the song has lots of different levels and types of music in it.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but does anyone know which are the best SD cards to use? I know they do different speeds, sizes etc. Seems to take a while to load up each time but that could be a function of me putting the music onto the card from my mac.

Dealer replaced my bolero with a newer one - speed issues are no more.
