Mid Life Crisis ?

Featured Replies

SWMBO (and now teeenage son) reckon i'm having a midlife crisis cos I've ordered an Octy vRS but I reckon I'm too old for one ! Either way can't wait - test drove a petrol and it was awesome in all respects. Seems alot of car for the money, especially with the VAT knocked off.

Nah if it was a mid life crisis you'd be getting a boxter or a scooby lol you've gone for a practical car with extras lol

Can't afford either of those but thanks for the reassurance anyway !! :giggle:

Expect I'm older than you, but I want one anyway. So what, if it's fun to drive!

Its a hugely pratical car with lots of space for SWMBO shopping and to take all the stuff when teenage son goes to Uni. That it happens to be quite fast with all the toys is just the bonus.

My mum is retired and drives a VRS Furby

I bought one to replace a Volvo. Nuff said. Entirely sensible choice for the mature man.

I must be out of touch with the yoof, I had always assumed that getting a skoda was a passport to middle age not the sign of a midlife crisis !

I thought midlife crisis was all about Harley Davidsons, Nissan 370Z etc.

Typo?

If they want to see a mid life crisis, show them Brimma's wheels! :giggle:

You're never too old (or youngish) to own a decent car, the only problem I foresee with the Octy Vrs is when every scrote bag realises how good they are and also when they become a tad cheaper. This happened to the Subaru impreza turbo - they were originaly owned by those in the know (as with the Vrs)but over time that changed and now every boyracer wants and has one.

My wife said it was a mid life crisis when I said I wanted a yellow one!

Looks like we have settled on a white one now, hopefully ordering it next week!

Women - Always have to have their say!

There's a yellow one in my area and it looks great, but so does the white.

That's what I thought as well, I've been slated rather a lot at work for buying my diesel VRS estate before I was 30 as I've no family and instead told I should be buying a much less practical car while I still can. I do have a motorbike though...

No Idea what age you are but I was 51 when I ordered my one last year.

Will be 53 late this year and am looking forward to ordering another new one in 2012

OH

I also got a white one emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

on the contrary ....

just put a nice set of alloy wheels, a noisy exhaust and black windows and you have a perfectly good chick puller.

and just let your colleagues moan about their own age!!!

Who cares about age. I'm 25 and ordered a new petrol one, a lot of older people do laugh when I say I bought a White skoda bt I know who will have the last laugh!

Jeezz....i got stick for gettin one being so young "ugh old mans car that Skoda" i'm 29 lol.

I love it though and i also got stick for owning a 5 series lol. i always say "jealousy is a cruel mistress"

Just to back all this up, I bought mine just before the arrival of our second baby. It's a family car and great fast hatch - simple as that. People don't bat an eyelid when they see a Golf GTI which is essentially what this is.

A midlife crisis would be a fast 2 seater, a new M3 etc. not a great all round hot hatch that is fairly quick and one of the cheapest cars in it's sector!

swmbo said the same to me when i bought my first vrs 8 ago.she loves it as much as me now.

and the vrs :giggle:
