smoke from ccv mod

Featured Replies

does yours smoke like a chimney just done it on mine and had to run pipe towards the rear becuase it looked like car was on fire from under passenger side front door

on a serious note have i done something wrong capped of the inlet pipe into the manifold and just ran a pipe from crankcase to the floor

Some people have reported this, but I have never had a problem with it. The venting is 99% bottom end pressure from the pistons descending after power stroke. The gases should be mostly air and a tiny amount of oil vapor. I would have a compression test done, to make sure the engine is healthy.

it never uses any oil only 200ml in just under twelve months just had mot passed smoke test first time only 083 on first reading pulls like a train in very gear surely if compression was down it would use oil?

My car vents quite a bit too, I wouldn't worry. Some days more, some days less. Mine hardly uses any oil too considering the mileage that I do, and is always cared for. I just like to know that all that vapour is no longer being passed around the pipework etc

I get a bit what is probably water vapour, I only tend to notice it when the weather is cold. mine runs into the wing behind the near side headlight so the vapours come out from around the headlight which looks a bit wrong.

Just to add, if the hose is running to the rear of the vehicle, be careful come winter. If it freezes, you can kiss goodbye to the engine oil seals if the hose becomes blocked. The hose MUST always run down, with no kinks or parts pointing up. A proper catch can is the answer, but needs emptied every month or so.
