The Skoda "Superb Nightmare

Featured Replies

purchased a skoda superb just 12 months ago and its the biggest mistake that i have made. Skoda is taking its customers in india for a big ride. they are so unfriendly to customers and their attitude towards its clients is just pathetic.

its my sincere advice to all ! never ever buy a skoda. i will give all you guys complete details about my nightmare with skoda and the dealer at coimbatore, india they are here to cheat. spread the message . say no to skoda.

there is not a single responsilble man in skoda or the dealership. they are probably paid to hoodwink customers.

all details will be posted soon. till then SAY NO TO SKODA

Whilst this maybe the case in India, over here in europe things are much better. We have heard of issues with Skoda India in the past, with regards to sorting problems with customers cars.

Hold on it will not be skodas doing it will be the indian franchise!,what you need to do is contact skoda head office in europe and complain directly as one mass, have you a skoda forum in india?,set one up maybe and you will have more of an impact, there is always issues with customer services but mostly they will sort out the problem, however it does not help calling them liars you will get nowhere quickly,I had a skoda superb and it was amazing just a little to big for us so got 2 fabias, the superb is a brilliant car keep plugging away at the customer services but definately contact skoda head office you will find the address somewhere here

Try getting customer service from BT and HSBC in the UK.

Now that's bad India service!

Seems a little unfair to criticise without detailing the complaint, just because someone disagrees with you does not make them a liar.

i have contacted the czech office and never receive any reply. i just got one reply saying they have forwarded the issue to the indian customer care.

and yes it gives me no fun in calling them liars but thats the fact. they lie, they are unfriendly, annoying. i am now facing this from 13 months. my car was at the service centre for more than 60 days and i get it back with the same problem and infact its worse. if one would see the condition they gave my car back they would go crazy. my car scratched at several places, right window does not work, door lights assembly was in the dash board.

and yes not to forget i had worn out tyres at 3000kms. they gave me a car without proper pdi. no wheel balance and alignment done. there was a suspension bolt that was not tightened fully.

oh gosh.... there is a lot i have faced. do you want to know the whole experience?

i take delivery of my car and the very next day i hear a rattling sound from the left side. i call the skoda guys and they ask me to bring down my car to coimbatore. i live in ooty which is 100 kms from coimbatore. its a long drive.

so after a few days i go to them and this is how it goes :

1. they dont create a job card.

2. they suspect a stone in the brake pad so they remove it and clean it and give it back saying its sorted

i left the same day and obviously could not hear the rattle as i was driving in city with ac on. but the moment i reach a quieter area i still hear the same rattle.

i call the dealership and they say it could be from the calliper so bring it back so we can check it.

a few weeks later i take it back and again

1.no job card was raised

2.they strip the wheel and check the calliper and one stupid unexperiences goonk uses a hammer and slams the discs saying it would remove the stone if there were any inside.

he probably needs to hammer his head as there seems a stone there.

After that there is some other technician who shows his pathetic skills calling it a problem with the drive shaft or suspension. and i get my car back and to no surprise the rattling still continued.

After a few days i had left my car at the service and for nearly a week i was being given all kinds of excuses and nothing was actually done. So then i decided and called skoda customer care and all i get is one standard auto generated mail saying the matter will be looked into. But for days there was nothing being done. every time you call skoda there is a new person who will talk to you. seems like a call centre. so after a loud talking one Mr.Ganesh talks to me saying their SAIPL technical team will look into the matter to solve it.

It took days for the technical team to visit. and after their visit the service centre was asked to replace a part called the clutch repair kit, which was replaced after days of waiting.

I was given back the car after to so called technical team diagnosed the problem or so they think they did. as usual the problem still continued.

So guys do you see how competent the national level skoda technical team is?

After a short drive the sound got worse and guess what? the problems improved not the car. Even in a stationery car while i shift from D to N there was a loud chuckling sound from the gear box. I again spoke to skoda and this time it was another person Mr.Narayan who is again filled with the culture of skoda of just sending automated replies. I need to call him thrice for him to reply back.

i was once again asked to leave the car at the service. :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@

You think Skoda and HSBC customer service is bad in India, you should try to call SKY from Ireland

and all you get is their New Dehli office.:thumbdown::bandit::wall:

in january i was asked to leave my car at millenium motors and i did so. these people had my car there for nearly 3 weeks. this time i had insisted on a job card. (i have all voice recorded conversations from day one). these guys nearlly stripped every part of my car, i was told they replaced the drive shaft, suspension, lower arm , bearing, etc but inspite of all it the rattling from the front still continued.

so , i got furious and spoke to the bangalore help line of skoda. i guess its a call centre kind of a place, all they do is speak sweetly and never get back . all you get in return is a automated reply. the reply is below :

Skoda Auto India Private Ltd.

thats it and they dont revert. i called again and then another person who calls himself head of service comes online and promises to resolve the matter.as usual no use.

i get a call from millennium after a few days saying that their technical team from SAIPL will visit their service and will resolve this matter. i had requested the dealer to call me while the team were here so i could talk and explain the exact problem but the never did so. the team visited millennium(thats what they claim) and they diagnosed this as a problem with the clutch. and they suggested that there is a part called as CLUTCH REPAIR KIT which needs replacement and the same would rectify the issue. i was told by millennium that it would be replaced and the sound would be arrested. i receive a call a few days later asking me to pick my car at 12. noon. and guess what i was kept waiting till 6pm. i was delivered a car at the time where there was no one to test drive. the customer relation person tells me , sir, if you trust us take the care the noise is arrested and our team have taken a proper test and the car is ok. i had no choice as i was heading to a hospital and was getting too late so i left.

the same night at around 9 i go out for dinner and on the way cluck cluck cluck the same noise surfaces again.

i call them the next morning and im asked to bring back the car. luckily i was still in cbe. i take my car to millennium and was told there are a few parts called as shims and probably they have not been fixed properly. god damn what do they mean when they say not fixed properly. highly incompetent. the service person is full of arrogance and knows no bit about the car. a complete fool. as i was waiting there the MD of millennium motors was around and i happened to talk to him. he was another filled with nothing person. talks sweetly but just to get away. he gives me his number and tells me to call him if i face further issues and he would be happy to help. i get my car back and leave for ooty and god damn it the sound still there.

i tried calling the md atleast 10 times and he never answers my call .i sent him text messages but its all in vain. no reply. So, thats where i understood that the people at the service centre lack culture because their bosses do so. i had spent so much time and money in following up this whole issue.

friends "never ever buy a skoda". they are a fiasco.

the next day i call up bangalore and send mails to many different addresses that i sourced from a few friends and from the internet. i get a stupid stereo type mail as above. thats it.

i get a call from the dealer again asking me to get the vehicle back.....

it was so bloody irritating. i refused to do so and said i would file suit against skoda and millenium. the customer relation officer says if you do so nothing will be done about your car it will be lying idle and the matter will be taken up by skoda legal department so you better not do any such thing. following her call i get a call fron their banglore office stating that they were very serious and wanted a last chance and requested me to drop the car at millennium and a technical team from skoda would come to cbe to inspect the car and rectify the problem.

fine , i leave my car there and for nearly a week nothing was done. i call them several times and they reply once. "IF ANY ONE AROUND CBE IS READING THIS , PLS AVOID PURCHASING FROM MILLENNIUM"

the so called technical team arrives at coimbatore and again reviews my car and this time they say its a problem with the "MECHATRONIC" . MECHATRONIC is the heart of the gear box. and can you believe it that i was sold a car with a defect in the gear box. cheats cheats cheats. i was told that the mechatronic unit was despatched and will take a week for it to arrive and the problem will be solved!!!

so! guys what do you think it is this time?

as usual the replacement of mechatronic never worked.

By this time i have a gear box ripped nearly 5 time. hows that for a 23 lakh rupee car. SUCKS.

i receive a mail now sayin that that the skoda technical team now recommended a gear box replcement was required and the gear box had to be replaced and the same was ordered and would take 5 days for it to arrive and under guidelines from skoda (who sit in one part of the country ) the gear box would be replaced.

so you see how competent and knowledgeable skoda and its technical team is. they are not sure what they are doing. they lack expertise and the service centre lacks etiquette and basic mannerism.

“SAY NO TO SKODAâ€

i wait for one whole week and finally the gear box arrives (23.03.11).

i was given delivery of my car on 24th. i was asked to pick up my car at 3.00 pm on 24th march and i was given delivery at 8.05.pm. they keep me waiting the whole evening. do i need to take this kind of treatment from a delaer and skoda. "obsessed to pathetic quality".

i never signed their papers where it said job done since as it was late and also as ever there was no technical person. only the customer relation manager and watch man.

i take delivery of my car and leave for my 100 kms journey to ooty!!!!

any guesses what happened next. !!

as usual the rattling got worse.

there was a bad sound in a stationery car while the engine is on whenever i shift from p to d and d to p. apart from the same old sound that still existed and as a matter fact the noise was worse and more often.

on the 25th morning i called millennium and they said probably the software updation would have got disrupted so it could be the cause and their technical person will visit my home in ooty on sunday morning and update the software. this is the pits. how the hell could they have given my car to me without verification. i would have waited for another day if they had asked me to.

on sunday the person who was supposed to be here at 10 arrived at 2.00pm and did nothing about it. wasted a lot of my time.

he tells me that the software need to be updated online and for that i need to take my car back to the service centre and it was a one hour job. gosh sick and tired i agreed.

i spoke to the customer relation manager asking her to give me a spare car for two hours while the car will be updated and she promised me the same. i reach millennium on tuesday and all i receive a cold and rude behavior from all at millennium. while i ask for the spare car she rudely replies WAIT my md is with some guests i will have to talk to him. they keep me waiting for an hour and no response. i again ask her for the spare car and the same pathetic behavior ****ed me of big time. so i waited in the customer lounge from 12.00pm to 2.30 pm. their customer lounge stinks to the core. its unbelievable skoda can treat you like this. at 2.30 i come into the service centre and see there is no one. i am told that the concerned people have left for lunch. i have never been treated so badly. and no one need to treated like this and more so after paying such a huge amount. the technical person in millennium has the guts to tell me that this is a normal sound for all superb petrol cars!!! **** off! then why could he not tell this to his skoda technical team.

that was the day i deceided i would rather leave my car in mid road but would never take it millennium and drove back to ooty.

HI ALL!

firstly thanks for all the comments suggestions and views. the problem in my car is quite certainly from the gear box. i have been requesting skoda to replace a gear box for a long time and finally they agreed but have again replaced it with a faulty one. i also got an extention one warranty on my car. in warranty i would never take it to an unauthorized service centre as it would doom my car for good. its very painful after i pay 2300000 i have to deal its service outside the company responsible for it.

after i received my car from millennium on 24th i had a talk with skoda banglore and told them that the sound is still there and for any future service my car will never go to millennium nor will i enter millennium. i dont want to associate my self with such ruthless people. also i would no longer make dealer visits, skoda has to pick my car and take it to any other skoda service centre.

yesterday my car was picked up from ooty by a salem assc and my car was taken to s7 motors salem.

these guys without my permission drive my car from salem to bangalore. they wanted a long test trial they say so.

this morning i get a call from skoda saying the sound is an operational sound. now that the worst thing i would want to hear. two of my friends have the same car. i dont hear any operational sound as such from any of the cars.

these people are really trying to cheat me on this.

i will fight this out with skoda in every possible manner. but my main reason for these posting is that i want people all around to know what skoda india is all about. they are the biggest jerks on earth. they calling it a operational sound simply proves their standard of quality thats in this car. i want as many people to read this post and spread the message so that not too many people are fooled and cheated this way. the dealers talk big while selling their cars. you dont know skoda while you buy a car. but when you experience service and skodas attitude you will never want to touch their cars.

"never ever buy this piece of junk(skoda)"

"say no to skoda"

You can keep on saying no in capital letters all you like - but I have owned four Skodas - 2 Octavias and 2 Superbs and I am awaiting delivery of my new Superb Combi and all I can say is YES YES YES YES YES- the cars have done exactly as promised and always a lot more! The dealers over here have always been better than good. Sorry that it isn't quite the same in India.

its all no no no for people buying these cars in india my friend. they are just pathetic. anyways good luck on your new car. im sure it will do well. you have good a s s overseas.

You've just said two of your friends have the cars and don't have a problem - you do seem to have a case for being treated badly by Skoda India (or maybe just the dealership?) and should fight this.

I wouldn't get so upset as to say the car is a piece of junk though - YOUR car is not right and the dealer isn't fixing it. Your friends own Superbs and they have no problems. Yours is an isolated incident by the sounds of it that isn't beinng remedied by the dealer chain.

Shout louder to Skoda Cz.

Advising us lot on here not to buy a Skoda is bit pointless BTW as we already have one, but I would be madder than hell too if I had to deal with such crap service.

Have you looked into getting some serious legal advice?

Why don't you leave the Superb with the dealer until they can sort the problem? Get a loan car from them whilst it is being sorted?

its all no no no for people buying these cars in india my friend. they are just pathetic. anyways good luck on your new car. im sure it will do well. you have good a s s overseas.

What do you expect ? YOU ARE IN INDIA ...

@i-s - Looks like you have a bad impression about Skoda India. Yes, they have good cars but customer service and support is lacking. There are good dealers though. For instance the dealers at the capital New Delhi is one of the best in the country, and the service of my dealer has also got major improvements after they bagged the deal for a Porsche dealership.

So, it doesn't seem too dull a prospect for Skoda Auto in India but they really do have to do something with customer support.

I think bad customer service is a trademark for VW group in India. Even, Audi is having such problems.

As, for Sids, I strongly suggest you take this to the consumer court without any further delay and hope you good luck.

All good operators and managers are probably outsourcing support for whole world. I don't remember when I heard English speaking support without Indian accent. And they are actually great, never had an issues either with operators or whole support process. But those who are working on local market may be underpaid or something. Here in Serbia things are not much better, but one great difference is that here you can find will to help even if there is no much knowledge and experience. Here in Serbia, Skoda is very popular, on the 2-3rd rank of all sales, but 70% are Fabia, 20% Octavia, 9% Yeti and 1% Superb etc... But overall 95% cars have basic equipment, without almost any options so it is understandable that Superb is rare, and there is no much experience.

Sorry to hear for your troubles, my sympathies...

What do you expect ? YOU ARE IN INDIA ...

And you believe if you live in Denmark you are privileged? Trust me you're not. This user has a problem related to the car "The Superb Quality". You will be astonished the problems I discovered to the top of the brand in Belgium, UK, France and so on. The issue is that Skoda deny any responsibility at all. Luckily I have some legal experience and using the EU legal framework I manage to force them to correct all the issues. So before you display your large blond smile , start use your brain to think. Living in Denmark is not a guarantee anymore, but prove ignorance to others problem.

- Have I claimed that I am privileged because I live in Denmark ? NO.

- Do I care about the problems you know about top brands in Belgium, UK, France and so on ? NO.

- Skoda denies any responsibility at all ? I do not see any evidence of this. Just one person from India writing "NO NO NO to Skoda".

- Have I claimed to have a large blond smile ? NO

- Have I claimed living in Denmark is a guarantee (if it ever has ?) ? NO

- Ignorance, well hardly not - its your interpretation.

But it all came from, that I know India a little. Have worked there and in coorporation with companies there. Just saying this is normal India business and not exceptional for Skoda specific.

hi guys,

I bought the skoda superb 1.8 in jan. The car is a gem.

The problem you are facing is because of the dealer and not the company.I live in new delhi. The company has improved there services.

There were alot of horror stories like this one.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian-car-scene/54881-skoda-dealer-changes-parts-my-car-consumer-court-car-not-returned-2-years.html

There were dealer in india who used to change parts but now its all changed.

They are selling close to 400 superbs a month in India.
