Steering issue, any ideas, please?

Featured Replies

I get this fault code every now and then (copied from google, but I get same numbers)

Address 44: Steering Assist Controller: 6Q0 423 156 AB Component: LenkhilfeTRW V270 Coding: 10120 Shop #: WSC 25051 2 Faults Found: 00566 - Steering Assistance Operation 27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent 01288 -

Now for a bit of background I have recently had a refurbed oem steering rack fitted, and then 2 weeks later, had to change the angle sensor due to it failing. This fault does not appear to relate to the same thing though? The symptoms I get are very angle sensor death like though - wanting use of the PAS pump, often when on a spirited run, and the voltage flickers, causing my dash gauges to go off, then reset, and the steering system crashes causing ultra stiff steering wheel action - way worse than a car with no PAS as standard. Also get wheel light on dash.

Often when it has crahsed, I can slow right down and for example, turn sharp left at slow speed and "PAS limp mode" will reset itself and I will get everything back again.

What I don't want is for it to do this PAS freeze to me on track at any time. Potentially very dangerous, so interested to know other options. I am running original (10 years old now) PAS pump & controller too.

Seems an intermittent fault will be hard to detect as we both know, as opposed to something that is broken 100% , being traceable .

I don't think this fault will be diagnosed from Briskoda members (hopefully I'm proved wrong),

and suggest let a Skoda mechanic quickly fix your vehicle problem. ASAP in my book.!!

I dread to think of the implications you highlighted if steering locked whilst on the track !!!! emoticon-0104-surprised.gifemoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif or on a public road !!!

Good bet it's the PAS controller wiring connectors corroded, or the PAS controller itself has started to give up. When they start to fail ,they draw insane current levels which causes the +B voltage rail to dip, and this in turn throws out bogus fault codes.

So oil your wallet hinges
