Unveiling of the LUPO

Featured Replies

Since we don't have a members motors section as such any more thought i'd post it up in here

had the wee lupo gti since January (got it for the other half as she had just passed her test + i love it)

It has Recaro seats from a mk4 golf anniversary

AP shocks and springs

Bastuck cat back exhaust

PiperX viper carbon filter

Standard alloys painted in anthracite with red VW centre's

Bits and bobs of 3M CF

red badges and grille stripe

LCR splitter

done all the changes myself (except seats)

what do you think?

If I came into money, then a big power lupo would be first thing on my list B)

Jase, was this the one that was damaged before? (Not trying to cause trouble here - Just a question)

Cracking job

yes it was a cat d from 2009

new tailgate bumper

front wings

bonnet and bumper

all replaced parts are genuine and aluminium i made sure of this before i bought it...

the car is pretty flawless tbh, the cat d bit doesnt bother me as its got new paint so its actually cleaner than it would be if it wasnt a write off if that makes any sense

and as there that rare and i'd consider it a future modern classic that it doesnt effect sell on price too bad, not that i plan on selling it anytime soon anyways B)

Could have given the camshaft cover a clean :giggle:

Good work

Good work

it is clean just looks corroded

going to paint exhaust manifold cover at some point

see what i can do with cam cover ... dont know if autosol would help?

*shameless profiteer mode* on.... i've got a complete lupo gti cylinder head with the cams and vvt gear etc at home if you ever need one.... or want to try out some diy porting :wonder:

nice car though, i've had a fair old few lupos now and they've all been brilliant, never owned a gti though

Just had a look at the old wheels that were on the car

there 16 x 7.5 at ET25

And the bathursts are 15 x 6.5 at Et 43 (correct me if im wrong)

so i make that the old alloys being 1" wider... so half of that is 0.5"... = 12mm less poke...

then as they were et 25 and the bathurst are et43 = 43-25 = 18mm less poke...

so... 18+12 = 30mm less poke...

now my arches are rolled at the rear and they used to scrub once in a blue moon, so i reckon 25mm spacers on the rear would be perfect to give me a little bit of room??

possibly go 20mm on the front as the front never rubbed and the camber is quite mad

also any1 any preference on the type of spacer, i've used spacer to hub then wheel to spacer before (aluminium) but never felt safe as i was always weary of running an aluminium thread?

i have found some billet steel spacer to hub, wheel to spacer... would these be any better

or alternatively longer bolts straight through a spacer... any ideas would be much appreciated

it is something i have considered but lack of funds are the main issue at the moment...

if i were doing it i would put new gasket and bolts in just for safety as i fancied doing that anyways as its nearing 100k just to 'safe proof' the engine...

will probably do it when funds permit

no idea about the numbers but t5 heat treated alloy has a higher tensile strength than steel anyway so i wouldn't worry about it... one word of caution about lupos running low.. make sure the passenger side driveshaft doesn't rub on the wiring loom

yeah cool, its only down 40mm at the front anyways, just on a spring and shock kit so nowhere near low

I quite like Lupos. Theres a couple of modified ones around where i live, and they look quite tasty. I can only imagine the smiles it puts on your face.

Had a day cleaning and spruced up the calipers (hammerite smooth) in the sunshine :shades:

used Megs Detailer and AG Sealant and some Megs Hot Shine Tire spray, pics don't do it justice but hey ho

Awesome wee car B)

actually not too sluggish either... exactly the same as a mapped fabia vrs, was slightly slower before bastuck, piperx and magnecor leads but now its level pegging

think im going to get another one so i have 2

Is it me, or is the front bumper a touch out of alignment?

Yeah i sorted that at the weekend too just needed a bit of fettling :)

Looks a nice example Jase emoticon-0148-yes.gif

How are you finding the minuscule petrol tank??

Oh, and you might want to get it moved as the Members Cars section is now open again. Freedom-only to post, but you qualify :)
