vrs question

Featured Replies

Hi all just a quick question about my rs, when i turned on my side lights the bulb failure warning light came on, now i know i have a number plate light bulb gone but on the from i have daytime driving lights in the bumper, in the manual it says these are my sidelights, but when i looked through the headlamps i see blue 501 bulbs that dont light, just wondering why that is? Thanks

In the uk the side light bulb in the main headlights are not connected

I believe the blue 501s in the cluster that don't illuminate are only wired up on cars where the "Curve projector halogen headlight" option is selected. I don't believe they're meant to be sidelights in other models as other models have a different headlight unit.

I have the curved lights and have not noticed them lighting up, but will check next time.

I think you'll find the unlit bulbs in the headlight cluster are the main beam bulbs, they are used but only when using main beams or flashing them. DE modules only provide dipped beam.

They never light not even with curve projector lights.

anyone know why there there? lol

The headlight unit will be common and they will perform the sidelight function in other setups.

(The DRLs are in the fog lights next to them) this is my light patern. they not in order as pics loaded in wrong order.

And that confirms that it would appear to be just the VRS that doesn't use that bulb.

I think Skoda have missed a trick here with the vRS to be honest. Am I alone in thinking it would have been much more sensible to use the normal side light bulb when side lights/dipped beam are activated rather than dimming the LED DRL's? This would make use of an unused bulb, also would do away entirely with the "you've got your fogs on" issue.

I still think Skoda should have integrated LED strips into the bumper of the vRS and kept the standard fogs like the Octy, real sign of cost saving and a real shame.

Why integrate anything into the bumper? All of these LED DRL light's look so tacky! Audi originally were just using the main beam location to provide a DRL light, nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

Surely it would be cheaper to just add a bulb to the existing headlight casing to provide a DRL? Then fogs could be left as fogs and no need for bumper mounted LED's. I guess they would have done their research :dull: and there must be a reason for putting them in lower locations? (I guess for those who would think 'oh he's got his main beams on')

Good DRL's never look tacky - led strips are the ones that make a car look terrible.

I guess I just don't see the point in making a separate light unit to house them, when there is already a headlight unit there which could be used instead.

Hmmm I see your point. Could be also a matter of cost or probably of more options for the end client?

... unless height above the road is important.
