cupra or powerflew bushes?

Featured Replies

Im about to change my console bushes, but wanted feedback on which bushes to use? Are powerflex or ibiza cupra bushes better? Thanks alot olly

I've got cupra. So i'll be biast. Go cupra.

if your doing it yourself powerflex ones are 10x easier to install...

i'd go for powerflex anyways, will be superior to the cupra bush anyways

Not so sure on that, the Powerflex bushing is a rotating bearing so in theory will wear out, it is also very expensive compared to the Cupra bush.

Whiteline.

Awesome sell them in their online shop.

Got mine from there. Cheap enough to. :)

I'm almost too embarrassed to ask this but it's been bugging me - what the **** does OEM stand for?

Original equipment manufacturer

All the OEM bushes for the rear of the front wishbone (console) have a hex hole in centre which the hex peg of the wishbone fits into. The bush has to be inserted in the correct way up..which means that the wishbone has to stick out horizontal (level) to allign and fit!!

When the supension is moving up and down the wishbone will be trying to twist itself against the bush causing more resistance to the motion plane that we don't want!! We only want to stop it moving left to right etc.. but we want it to freely pivot to allow the damper & spring to have full reactive control over the ammount of up & down resistance. This is why the Console bushes from Whiteline, Powerflex, and SuperPro are all two piece jobs.. one big bit to fit into aluminium console... with a smaller bit to fit over the hex peg and make it a "round peg". Superpro also do "anti-lift" and "correction" versions of this bush..but all of theirs require the console to be removed from the car and the new (big bit) of the bush to be pressed in.!!! The Powerflex one can be fitted by hand with the console unit insitu on the car!!!

For the front bush on the wishbone I have Powerflex...but think that the SuperPro is slightly better as the steel tube has a thicker side wall!!... B)
