Cost of wheel alignment

Recommended Posts

I don't actually know what they did - I assume both front sides were done, but the invoice just says "wheel alignment". I phoned them up and it seems that £95 + vat is their standard charge - they said that it "takes about about an hour" of work. I don't mind paying a fair price but I hate feeling ripped off.

holy pooop!

got mines done for £15... took them about 30mins and they used top range laser equipment...

you can only do the front wheels on a fabia anyways, rear beam cant be adjusted

mines was only tracking / alignment... no camber adj.

I paid £114 (£95 + vat) for front wheel alignment at an independent VAG specialist today. Is this excessive?

Despite the danger of my getting roasted for saying this, I'd reckon that your VAG indie carried out what that model of car needed and that is essentially a full four wheel alignment check and adjustment where possible.

Thats what VW charge... the fact that if you go to an indi' with top equipment and they do the same thing (some cars certain things can not be adjusted unless you remake certain components!) their charge will usually be around £50 for all four wheels!! :S There is a web site called alignmycar?? which has good indi's on it...my local that I use is on there!! 2 garages near me are £27 (farmers) computerised system or £30 (HIQ) it think laser. However farmers in Edinburgh said they would put it on their special computerised jig that'll do full geometry checks for around £50. HIQ said they won't do my audi for £30 though because its really difficult if the track-rod ends are seized, so it would be £30 plus labour. Mine were so I had to replace them first (night-mare diy job). Mike07vrs not to be slanderous but your alignment is probably worse now.
