Ha.You'll be lucky... Dependson what you deem 'decent'.

As said - try Chris Knott and Adrian Flux first...

Admiral or moreThan. Both quoted me around the £1000 mark, by far the cheapest insurance quote I had at 19. You won't get any lower at that age.

Stick your mum or dad on the policy for a cheaper quote.

Admiral do a 10 month policy, at the end of the 10 months you get a years no claims, basically a way of building up your no claims quicker. I took out a policy with them last year when I was still 18, I put both my mum and my gran on the insurance (not my dad because he had a speeding offence on record) and it worked out at £1,270 thats with courtesy car cover and additional injury insurance for passengers (worked them in for free). Its worth making an actual account with them as it tends to give cheaper quotes than the comparison websites. Also to pay it monthly it was going too cost something in the region of £3K so paying annually is the cheaper option.

Hope this helps

Swift cover me fully comp for £600 a year with all mods declared (I'm 21)

Have you tried the comparison sites - GoCompare, CompareTheMarket, Confused, etc?

Should give you an idea of which ones tend to be the cheaper ones, and which ones are worth a closer look (always get a quote directly - it may be cheaper).

Just got off the phone with adrian flux, couldnt put my dad on the policy as the main driver as additional drivers have to be over 25. The quote as me as a main driver came to £9000 lol. tried swift cover and admiral and none of them will even quote me online.

Whats going on? how is everyone getting insured at my age..

Have you tried all the usual stuff such as "parked in a garage overnight", parked in secure carpark during the day, no mods (mods are the killer), fixed mileage etc etc also your occupation comes into. Might be worth looking at the car insurance section of the forum, could have some good tips

yeah used all of that type of stuff. no mods or anything. tried compare the market, quotes are shocking.. £4695 and higher.

If its that high it could be down to the value you've set for the car

im with admiral. i got both my parents as named drivers and i have 0 no claims and it cost me 1100 quid to insure the fabia vrs

and im 20

i'm 20 have an accident to my name and 1 years NCB and 2 weeks ago done my renewal with elephant and paid 878.

Also depends on your postcode.....

Just a note (not suggesting you're trying to do it, and may have misunderstood), but the named/primary driver must be the one who drives the car the most - otherwise, it's what the insurance companies call "fronting", which they regard as insurance fraud, and will void the policy.

Also depends on your postcode.....

And job (unemployed/student = bad). Also, increasing the excess can help somewhat.

At the tender age of 19 you are going to get raped by insurance companies. I rember Quinn were reasonable for young drivers but whether that includes higher powered (For you) cars i don't know.

give HIC a try, they loved me as i have the jetta too!

im 21 and im with swift and have been with them since i have bought my car which is over a year ago and paid £650 first year with 2 years NCB's. im now paying £560 fully comp named driver £560.

This is a nightmare, every company i try cant even quote me. I live in a crime rated 'E' area but surely this isnt enough to not give me a quote, not to mention my dad is on the policy with 4 years no claims..

Quinn wouldn't even quote me, even after being with them for 2 years

try axa mine was 1400 at 20 with no ncb and thats with living in Northern Ireland, but at 19 slacken the belt off, bend over and prepare to be raped!

Well just to put a downer on that for you..Im 19, when i bought the car i was 18, i had it a month and someone decided to write me off..so i ended up losing the car, buying the one i currently have now, on my own it was £2500, put my dad on whos never had a crash and 27+ driving under his belt...but it down to 2200..put my girlfriends mom on, and it put it down to 1900..but thats only a 10monther, but u still get a years no claims bonus if you dont crash.. But that obv is for where i live so depends where you live and all that ****

When I was 19 mine was £1400 FC with a claim against me and 0 NCB

£1200 this year

And a qoute with gocompare throws up elephant price of £720 FC with my gf on it who has a claim against her and my job changed to lift engineer.
