skoda RNS 510 columbus, question to all

Featured Replies

did search for Mike H but could not find anything, to be honest i just want to check the number on my can gateway but dont really know where the kit is located and how to get to it. once i do that i would be able to tell what i need to do with it.

thanks onmeheadson, its a pleasure to have it and so far it has not frozen or anything, and regarding you question you have to exist the active media and then deete the song or folder in question, it would not delete anything that is currently active and running.

Mikes reply to me

On the diesel Octavia, you can see the can gateway module once you drop the glove box from the dashboard. It’s the only module there, slap bang in the centre of the hole left by the missing glovebox. It simply unplugs. On the petrols, it’s mounted behind the dashboard near to the steering column. On the diesels, they aren’t even bolted in, there are 2 hooks on the unit itself and it simply sits on a bracket.

To get a suitable gateway, you’ll need one that’s AT LEAST revision P, and you’ll need to find at least a 2007/8 model car to get this revision. That’s why I sent you that last link – it’s a revision Q.

Look for ANY VAG car which is CANBUS based, such as Golf, latest Passat, Jetta, Audi A6 ot TT, latest Seat Altea or Leon, mark 2 Octavia or Superb mark 2. Once they reached revision Y, they started again with AA, AB AC etc. The one I got for mine is the very latest AD.

The basic part number 907 530 * (where * is the revision number) you need is the same as the link – you may get a different prefix depending on what vehicle it comes out of, eg 1Z0 is for the Octavia, 1K0 is for a Golf (same as my new one) , 3C0 for a Passat etc. The prefix doesn’t matter if the rest of the part number matches. It’s simply to identify the source of the part when ordering replacement. VAG don’t like VW owners getting their parts cheaper from Skoda or Seat!

Whatever you get will need coding for the car, as each individual model has different controllers. eg. the one Simbo got was out of an Audi TT and was coded for 4 wheel drive. But it was a revision Q and was fine once recoded with VAGCOM.

cheers mate,

i know its not the right place but wanted to ask a question, after my clutch change the car was sweet for a few weeks in the last two days i have noticed a bit of sluggishness like the car does not really jump out of 2nd and 3rd gear, no engine manigement lights on and on motorwaysd the speed is fine, also noticed juddering of the engine itself on idol ofter its been driving for 2 or more hours during busy weekends, its felt in the whole car.

any suggestions or previous experience on that, thanks

Did you put a new duel mas or the single system in Many on here have fitted the single system its cheaper and does not cause any juddering I have the single sytem and have just covered 90,000 miles on it so far

No, won't fit or work. Dash would need modifying and even then the wiring system in an Octy2 is different - that being CANBUS that the Fabia Mk1 doesn't use.

thanks for the reply shame really would of looked nice.

If you're looking to do something double-DIN, I'd go Pioneer AVIC in the Fabia :)

Good range of features and can look quite OEM in-situ.

i saw those but decided to go for the CLARION VX401E i thought it looked real nice simple but effective, I'm not sure if all the pioneer's come with sat nav but last time i had one in my head unit i almost crashed trying to see where to go :S so Ive decided to go with out the built in sat nav and go for a stand alone any suggestions on what nav to go for  .

Once you have a freeview box installed all you do is activate TV with vagcom

If you just want static reception any DVB-T receiver will be OK.

If you want mobile reception then look for something that has diversity antenna and is based on the DibCom or Siano chipsets, it's highly unlikely anything else will work if the car is moving.

i just had a DMF fitted with clutch, it was a sachs unit. to be honest i had the juddering before the change and have it after as well only not as harsh as before. over the last week the car seems to come in form again, i gave it some beans over the weekend and it seems it runs very nice now, seeems like a mystry to me mate.

Been following this thread as I'm about to do the same as you with my '07 estate.

Which fascia did you end up using?

Could you post a picture of the one with phone cutout (if you still have it?

Thanks.
