Chrome and Carbon Fibre R8 Wrap

Featured Replies

I popped into Warrington Audi today and saw they had this naughty car. So I thought I would take some snaps to let people who are interested in vinyl wraps have a look at what you can do to an £80K car (good or bad??) Sorry it was all a bit rushed and I wasn't wearing the sort of clothes that I was gong to get down on the ground in :D Anyhoo, see what you think. Personally I wasn't that impressed with the quality of the chrome wrap, but the carbon bit looked pretty good, but the chap who owns the car apparently takes it to the track so it has a hard life. Some of the panel gaps look odd too, but I guess this happens when you take the thing apart. Also there are several cropped pictures to try to eliminate reflections of me and the Service manager :D Bottom line though, it doesn't half stand out from the crowd, even when there are other R8s about.

All the wheels ae chewed a little and one of the fronts looks like it might have a slow puncture. But hats off to the chap, at least he takes it to the track and gives it a good trashing, not mollycoddling it outside a Bistro in Alderley Edge.

How to make an ugly car worse!

Sorry, but if you afford an 80k+ car and can afford to track it and wrap it to look different... you can afford to get those rims sorted out. :p

In an odd way I quite like it. Mostly because he has done something a bit different. Although the novelty would wear off in 24 hours if I had to look at it all the time.

Agree, each to their own, just hope he keeps it to himself. Certainly not to my taste.

I was just about to say the alloys need a refurb and the tyre pressure looks low... not how i'd look after an £80k supercar... what a waste! Now all carbon would be cool!

It must have taken ages with all the fiddly details that the car has. I think the carbon wrap looks better and it makes sense not to cover the bonnet in the shiny stuff. The driver would be blinded in direct sunlight!

That looks battered. Wheels are in a mess, bad panel gaps, front tyres could do with some air too. Like the carbon but the rest is awful.

wonder what premiership football club the owner plays for....... :smirk: A fantstic car ruined

In the cars defence, the owner has had the car at the dealers for some time. I am guessing it is mechanically spot on and the ravages to the body are a result of the car being used properly. how many Ferraris ever see a track, or go sideways round a bend (forget that last bit, as Manchester United footballers do that sort of thing all the time near Manchester Airport- you may have seen the pictures of their crumpled mess)

That's the V8 version isn't it? Saw the a red V10 spyder coming back from Bournemouth today as well

I think they look good but agree with others, not very nice to look at. Interesting to see how the sun interacts with the chrome

Right front definitely looks low. Didn't think Pirelli made the best tracket tyres either, unless they've made progress from their F1 research :giggle:

Sadly the sun was in mostly for the 5 mins I had, which is probably just as well as my camera wasn't half confused by the reflective surfaces :D In the original, much sharper shots you can see the light playing on the cars surfaces better, but the photobucket compression removes a lot of the subtleties :( I should probably compress/resize them on my pooter before sending them to photobucket.

It reminds me of the first ever aluminium Audi when it was launched at a Motorshow.

It was unpainted, just highly polished Aluminium and I thought it looked gorgeous. B)

I think thats the sort of look he wanted, but put some carbon wrap on possibly to stop himself being blinded on sunny days?:

I dislike silver cars at the best of times, but chrome just takes that way too far. But then to split that with Carbon Fibre is just madness.

I agree with the couple of people who have said it should be carbon fibre all over. Maybe carbon fibre, with the side vent bits chrome would look good.

As has been said many times, money cant buy you taste.

nice but o/s/ f tyre looks a bit flat to me

I think it was

I'm in two minds. In a way, I admire it for being different and think the front and sides work pretty well with the shape. But think the rear looks awful. Then again, it could be argued that the R8 at rear and rear 3/4 is it's worst angle.

Can understand where was carbon wrapped too, to avoid being blinded ;)

I'll take mine in red, with proper carbon sideblades please emoticon-0103-cool.gif

I'll see if they will so a swap for your Octy (plus money your way of course)

It's certainly different.

And a rare photo of yourself too!

Did anyone see Theo's Chromed Maybach on the one show last night? Volume was off, so i couldn't tell if it was a joke or not.
