Best time of year to buy new for a good deal?

Featured Replies

Hi, tried to search the forums for this one but had no luck, so here goes. If buying brand new from a skoda dealer, which is the best time of year to make sure of getting a good deal?

Is it just after everyboby has raced to get their new cars for that particular registration at the beginning of the month or what?

Should I be walking through their doors on march 2nd to cut a good deal or is that still too soon?

Just before the reg changes is usually a good time as people are holding off for the new ones.

Hmmm, IMHO i think the savings are so small they are almost neglible....you might save a couple of hundred BUT actually the vRS is in so much demand some dealers are selling used ones for more than i purchased new.

I agree with Carefree theres no good time or bad time, your best bet would be to play one dealer off against another, I did this and ended up with an extra

I got a cracking deal on my Octy vRS when I bought in Sept 2004. I waited until after the plate change and went in towards the end of the month. I think there must be a bit of a slack period as everyone bundles to get their car for the 1st day of the new registration. I have also heard that Dec/Jan tend to be a bit slack because of Christmas.

The dealer I ordered my new octy said that Skoda (on top of what the dealer can give) tend to do promotions on a quarterly basis, there was one before Xmas if registered by the 20th dec, the next may be due in March!

anytime at the end of the month as they will be trying to hit their targets, but some models will not fall in to that target (i.e. CTR, VRS etc)

The end of the year is always good as dealer will be wanting to meet their yearly targets.

Best advice is your the boss................if you dont like the deal walk away, there are plenty of other dealers that might be willing to deal.

4-00pm on New Year's Eve (2002 this was) when the salesman wants to go home to his family.

Fabia vRS with year's tax, fuel, rubber mats, headlamp protectors, cargo net, black magic paint and autochanger for list price, with an extra 500 quid haggled on my part exchange price and then the coup de grace, 2 years 0% finance to finish the proceedings.

I did buy him some beer after the deal was done, so I'm not totally heartless :)
