Fabia VRS........Now an R26.R Megane.

Featured Replies

Very strange. Like you say though, it's the fact that it takes time and effort to argue - and usually you just want to get to where you're going.

I still feel that the request isn't a reasonable one, as I'm not aware of anything preventing you from fitting that sticker. The fact it's permissible for a full 'limo' tint (100%) on the rear window is more weight behind the argument really.

The only thing I can think of is if the sticker was likely to cause offence to other road users [contained swear words, racist comment and the like] (which I know it didn't!) - in which case there's grounds for the removal request there- but even then that's not on visibility grounds.

I agree that it's a bit OTT to actually pull someone for that, don't blame you for not arguing your case though as they would probably start nosing about on other areas of the car (not saying there is anything wrong with your car!).

Although I have to say now that with no badging on the back at all, some people will get one hell of a shock if you do decide to give it a boot full ;)

First modifcations:

Swap tyres for some Eagle F1 Assymetrics.

Fit a standard Megane stereo, aux lead, and renaultsport speakers.

Then

Decat

DS2500 pads

Maybe a remap.

And look for a set of spare wheels for R888's to go on!

I love the R26.R

I was in France a couple of years ago on a windy single lane N road, like our A roads, with no traffic anywhere to be seen, until I heard something behind me, looked in the mirror, and just saw a black R26.R thrash past me doing about 110mph. This was just before a bend as well. He came out of nowhere and I was a bit ****ed off, with our 3 year old in the car and everything, but a tiny piece of me had to admire his style.

Lovely car, although you might be making more frequent visits to the dentist with all the loose fillings it'll cause. Not a pliant ride

Don't go for the eagles, get the federal 595rsr or the Yokohama ad08 I think they are! NIce ca, how much money you pay of you don't mind me asking? Hopefully it won't be too hard to live with every day

Nope, they're both sticky track tyres, just want standard decent road tyres, and then a spare set of wheels with R888's on for track :-)

£15,000, I've wanted one ever since they first came out, so I took the plunge, sold the Skoda, saved cash up, and drove around in a crappy little Polo until one came up EXACTLY how I wanted.........Glacier White, cage, toyos, ti exhaust, climate and folding mirrors!

Ride isn't amazing, but it's a damn site better than my Fabia on Coilovers lol!

Amazing cars, and I'll openly state, I'd never every buy a French car (bar this one), the build quality is ****e!

Sounds like a good buy, I'm sure it was for sale at 18k.

The federal is regarded as really good all rounder :) may save you having too sets as reviews comparing them to r888 saying they are grippier, plus have 8mm treading compared to 6mm on the r888. Sound like a good price :) congrats :) is it True that the carbon seats are supposed to cost a bomb?? Wonder what it will be like going to the shop with a 5 point harness? Lol you'll have it on on 10secs after living with it for a few weeks. Is it really noisy in the cabin?

Yep, on Pistonheads for £18k, then he put it on eBay, and I won it both times, first at 14.5k then at 15.1k. His reserve was £17k and £16k respectivley, and second time round he accepted £15k, plus an spare iPad I had lol.

They get bad reviews with .R owners, as they fall apart at the slightest bit of heat! Advans or R888's is what they all swear by.

Yup, £7k a set :-0. Not to noisy, but the ti exhaust drowns out everything anyway!

Missus hates the car due to the seatbelts anyway, but ah well!

Might be coming back to Skoda ownership as well, she wants an A2 tdi, I want her to get a Fabia VRS..........lol!
