Biodiesel clarity

Featured Replies

Hello all I am new to Briskoda and are looking to buy a fabia diesel but want one that runs on biodiesel for cost reasons. From what I have read, the SDI fabias seem to run ok on the stuffbut there is some doubt on TDi versions. The SDi units use a distributor axial fuel pump (traditional mechanical type) which is the same as my old astra TD that ran fine on bio. Some of the earlier TDi's I think have essentially the same pump with the addition of a turbo to boost power so should these run fine on bio. SDi and TDi pumps upto around 2002 are for sale on ebay and the part number is exactly the same apart from a letter at the end of the par number SDi ends in B and TDI ends in D. The later common rail and PD systems allowed higher pressures and finer atomisation of fuel which is where bio becomes a problem. Can anyone advise on TDI's with axial pumps?

What do you mean by BIO DIESEL the real processed stuff, or bunging in ALDI SUN FLOWER OIL ?

An SDI will run on old used chip shop oil filtered through a 15 dennier Nylon stocking, at a mix of 60 diesel 40 old chip shop oil in winter and 50/50 in summer :-)

The TDI is more particular :-(

National

I'm fairly certain that all TDI engined Fabias are PD units.
