Old Polo - how fast?

Featured Replies

Just had an encounter with an extremely rapid V-reg Polo (pre-facelift). Was way faster than my Fabia vRS, anyone any ideas what you can do to them and what kind of power you can get out of them? I have no idea what could have been under the bonnet but it flew. I was amazed/impressed. At least the nasty Punto and 206 with him didn't stand a chance :D

 Not really sure... A well tweaked GTI one perhaps? Did it look fettled with as the GTIs came with nice looking 16" alloys IIRC. Other than that you may have been dealing with a 1.8T conversion. ;)

i guess it wasn't a G40 version then?(Older older shape)

with an uprated supercharger they are a very rapid little car.

Possibly a G60 conversion. ;) I know of one running with 220bhp somewhere around London. This is in the origional G60 body though. Not bad little cars at all.

It was the pre-GTI shape (when the most powerful standard model was the 100PS 16v) and post G40 model. The engine did sound kinda unusual from what I could hear, so I did wonder whether someone had managed to shoehorn a 1.8T in it, but then again could be something with a G40/G60 in it...
