two stroke oil

Featured Replies

2 stroke = smoke,

Nuff said.

In a petrol engine yes, but not in a diesel.

A spark ignition engine can't burn the two stroke oil properly so some stays in the engine as lube and the rest comes out of the exhaust, partially combusted, as blue smoke. Hence the reason two stroke petrol engines smoke.

A compression ignition engine (diesel) combusts the two stroke oil pretty much completely as part of its fuel, so usually no additional smoke is produced when added to derv.

Nick is absolutely right, I have even doubled the recommended dose levels and still nothing, no change whatsoever, and this is on a full tank so plenty of time to review it, so if anyone on the south coast is running 2-Stroke in there 1.9 PD and is sure there is a difference, Please lets meet up, Start them up, and if yours is quieter than mine ill drink half a litre of 2-stroke, that should quieten me down a bit!!  :D

Interesting,

I have to admit I'd never considered that when using it with an oil fuel rather than solvent petrol fuel.
