NUMBER PLATES

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just noticed today that 2 letter of my front plate have almost disapeared. The odd thing is I washed the car last weekend and it was perfect, i also noticed that they seem sticky too, so anyway they need replacing.

What do I do? never had to change them on any other car, obviously want a legal setput and nothing bespoke, just as they come.

Do I need to register of do I just buy them online?

Any help is appreciated

Cheers

Go to halfords and get some.

They need logbook, driving licence and a utility bill iirc.

And get euro ones too. They look way better.

I get mine online, no need to show the paperwork. Although they are then classed as show plates and in theory not road legal, but imho look perfect and are a hell of a lot better than these people who stick a screw the middle of something to try and get their initials on the cheap on a plate. :giggle:

For my trailers, I went one step further and just went to an online site, typed in my numberplate and to gave a little preview image. I screen grabbed it, scaled it up in sized, printed out on my office colour laser on A3 (two sheets of paper), laminated and then stuck it behind a piece of numberplastic which I just happened to have :-) :thumbup: Did I say that tight was my middle name :rofl:

I use a decent supplier online who produces fully legal plates to the correct BS standard. And about half the price of Halfords.

PM me if you want details.

Loving the plates :thumbup::thumbup: .

Now my next question did you paint the chrome surround yourself? If so whats involved? what primer prep etc :thumbup:

i sure did, some people say you should soak it in bleach or thinners but i just sanded it right back to remove the chrome before a few coats of plastic primer. etched it up again and then applied the base coat colour, again several coats before laquering. :thumbup:
