Should I Tint my Windows?

Featured Replies

Just to try and help, the picture above isn't limo tint, they are the same tint as mine (you can just see through them), these are the equivalent of supreme 15 tints which allows 12% light through. Limo tint is equivalent to supreme 8 tint - they look jet black to look at and you won't see objects on the other side. They typically allow 5% light through.

Most aftermarket professional tinting uses the same film, typically solar guard and there are usually around 6 different tint levels available. Supreme 15 is the best one for 'privacy glass', anything above this will offer some privacy and UV protection but can be seen through.

:wonder:

Was definitely 5% Suntek film he opened the box in front of me, either way i couldn't care i'm more than happy and it was pretty much free B)

Go for it. They look great on my estate, and kids in the back never complain about the sun. I actually chose not to order it with the factory tints, and as soon as the car arrived in the dealers, I se

  • Here's a link to pics of my race blue vRS hatch with medium tints. The front doors I've left clear as per the VOSA regulations, but I've had a clear UV protection film installed to help keept the in

It does look good - i have got a sample from my local firm but can't remember the %tint. I think it is 40% as in it lets 40% light through. They do a Limo, 20%, 40% and a 60% iirc. Will have to try my sample and go back and see what else they have.

Is £150 a decent price?

That's a great price I've been quoted over £300 so far for the rear windows on mine!

hmmmm...Dubious over the quality now! will have to see if i can pop over when they have a car in so i can see the quality. I saw 2 cars driving off when i got there so didn't get chance to see them!

also ask what film they are using.

I think something like this will vary differently up and down the country and also due to the quality of the products. The company I used is a vehicle tinting and commercial window graphics company. They tint all the dealers cars for non factory order privacy glass and mine also cost £150. Don't be put off by the price, but do ask for some evidence of work they have done. Call local performance garages and see if they can recommend someone.

You can actually order an extra set of clips for £8 if you want to.

Where from ?

I've just paid £10-50 with postage

Just a quick update on this...

Had a reply to my email to Vanstyle, saying that the website is not quite accurate and that they tend to get them made to order, so can ignore the "not in stock" note.

Think I'll order a set (despite Pagey's comment!) and comment back in a week or so (hopefully) once I've fitted them.

Exciting update 01: Blinds have just arrived in my office. Will have fun transporting them home on the train!

11 days from order to arrival, acceptable to me as they're (apparently) made to order.

Hopefully get em fitted tonight...

Pictures asap please. The only thing stopping me from ordering now is that the rear has the solid Black line straight down the middle

Yeah that might be an issue, though tbh I'm probably not going to install the rear, I only bought the set for the sides really, but for the same price as the official ones you effectively get the rear thrown in free. Will see how it looks anyway.

Welcome to have a look at my set Tim. Although I've not got the rear one for precisely that reason - the join down the middle. IIRC everyone with it says it's not an issue, but I didn't really feel a rear one was necessary anyway.

I also have a few pics I took on my phone when my set went in, if they'd be useful to people...

Put this thread up after mine had arrived (in case anyone missed it): http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/201824-vanstyle-uv-sunblinds-window-shades/page__pid__2393622

Like you I didn't bother with the rear blind.

Did mine last week at AngliaTint (Pentagon Glass Tech), one shade below the darkest, 75% i think. Mainly cause of the baby.

I have the Skoda textile shades that clip into windows, but passengers kept complaining that they are starting to feel dizzy looking through them while driving.

Look good CEPi - any chance of a shot further out, showing the whole car from the side and rear 3/4 view? Thanks.

Here you go. Ignore the dusty stripes on the boot windows as i just used a squeegee on petrol station. Did an inside pic too so you can see that it doesn't look all mafia style, as i still want the toddler to be interested by outside things.

Why dont you get rear window and back etc Skoda sunblinds? They look good and in dark winter days can take them off!

Hames

See my above comment. If you'r talking about Skoda OEM textile sunblinds that clip into rear windows, they make passengers dizzy looking out of them. I took them off as you can't see much out, but are perfect for assassination drive-bys.
