Just to give you some idea what things cost, I have attached my bill for my 2005 fabia VRS using genuine Skoda parts at my local independent garage.

I have just had my 1.4 TDI Cambelt, Tensioners, Water Pump and Anti Freeze top up and my car cleaned both inside and out at Gilbert Lawton, VW Dealership in Macclesfield, they had a special offer on at £398.99.

Highly recommended, first class service.

thanks guys so the parts price sounds good

Sounds about right, I had the cam belt changed on Friday, parts were a little more expensive, 90 odd for belt kit, 35 for pump, 330 in all, genuine parts.

Had mine done in Jan at a VW Indy in Edinburgh £369 all in.

thanks guys so the parts price sounds good

Yeh....it's a very good price, in fact maybe a little bit too good to be true lol.

They have quoted you £31 for the water pump, but then there will be another £10 for G12 antifreeze.

That leaves £22 to buy the cam belt kit which consists of a belt, tensioner/roller and idler roller.

Any change from the £22 will be needed to buy replacement engine mounting stretch bolts.

Bill.

the price is just for the parts from a motor spares

i paid £133 trade for genuine cambelt kit and waterpump

if it was me id spend tht bit extra on genuine parts as most come with 2yr warranty

the price is just for the parts from a motor spares

Yeh I thought as much, even so a none OEM cam belt kit can't be up to much for £22.

You will prob just end up with only a new after market belt being fitted.....and not get a (all important) new "Litens" tensioner inc.

IMO (unless the car is a banger/cheap run around) when it comes to cam belts and tensioners for peace of mind its got to be OEM quality.
