Top speed of a Vrs?

Featured Replies

could someone tell me what speed they have honestly had there car at? Thinking of starting engine mods but don't see the point if they're topping out round 120ish?

I've had mine over 130 and there was still some left in the engine.

As I've got the longer gearbox, if I had enough power, theoretically it's capable of doing 160+

Forgot to say it's Blt so shorter box in it :(

Stock should get to indicated 130mph eventually. Obviously having more power means higher top speed, but I still wouldn't expect a remapped fabia in stock guise to get much past 140mph indicated due to aerodynamics (lack of) and gearing.

Even so, I'm pretty certain it'll go faster than you'll ever need.

with all dew respect do you need it to go fast top end, surely its more fun getting to a reasonable speed really quickly. Just my opinion thats all

130mph standard or mapped it doesnt matter

Standard turbo runs out of puff

Stage 2 hybrid 145/150

It is, but a few friends have 320d's, fr leons etc and as soon as changing to 6th gear their going into the distance..

Don't forget though, a Fabia is in the supermini class, whereas a 320d and Leon FR aren't...

My TomTom said I was doing like 125mph when I was indicating 150mph... But it kept pulling through so it was off the clocks but the TomTom was saying 152mph I believe. It was over 150mph anyway.

Just touching 140

Touched 130 on the clocks... then I lost my engine under tray... :'(

Top end it pointless other than how quickly can you loose your lisence. Hardly a thing to base weather your going to mod the car or not lol

Only on a "private road" ;)

I've seen a video of one "off the clock"...

In-between 125 & 135mph. To scared to look after 125.

Done it once or twice to know what it does, on very empty road.

I know now, shan't do it again. Quite surprised actually as pulled very quickly to that speed.

Thinking about it, the fabia is the first car i`v not even tried to max out. Maybe i`m getting old :giggle: :'(

Have a search on youtube for Johnny Smith from Fifth Gear running a VRS at top whack for as long as possible. You might want to upgrade the tyres before you decide on anything else.

To be fair, that run was over a long period of time, on a banked track with a very abrasive surface. A quick run upto top speed is not going to cause the same problem.

A "normal" blow out is much more likely at top speed rather than stripping one side of the tyre like Johhny Smith managed.

Had it touching 140, been mapped tho

Or on the Isle of Man.

Also, it will depend on if you measure the speed using the speedo (which is inaccurate) or, a more accurate, GPS (Sat-Nav) device.

P.S. Johnny Smith tested a Mk II Fabia vRS at high speed, not a Mark I.

150 once down a hill, 135/140 on the flat.. Dont like keepin it in them speeds for long but, not good for them IMO.. My car has BLT engine, do they have a shorter box?? I thought my top end wasnt as good as a few vrs I have been in..

Surely acceleration is more important than top speed anyway?

In reality 70Mph should be the only maximum speed you will ever need, I can't see you needing to go any faster than that on a road (illegal and a danger to yourself and other road users) or much faster than that on track days (most don't have long enough straights to achieve a vehicles theoretical top speed).
