BIG km displayed on maxidot

Featured Replies

Saw this video on youtube and the guy scrolls past a GIANT kph reading screen on his display does anyone know if I can activate this on my maxidot asI drive in mainland Europe 90% of the time woul dbe better than the tiny numbers I have all the time on screen?

All the new ones do this?

You can get it changed to MPH too.

does anyone know if I can activate this on my maxidot

Yes you need to changed the country with VCDS for large MPH it needs to be changed to Australi, for large KPH change it to a country that uses KPH.

As standard the Maxidot displays a small km/h readout. There is no large readout (in any units).

I think the OP is asking if/how you activate the large readout as his car will already display the small readout in km/h.

And the answer is exactly as I posted above ^^^

Ok sorry, I thought that was just an explanation of how to switch between mph and kmh for the existing small readout.

But there is an option in VCDS to activate the large readout too?

since u've got maxidot, go into the setup menu and configure the mfd data settings.

essentially u should c a list of items (avg.speed; consumption;range;travel time;speed warning; etc etc.) with checkboxes next to them. these items represent wat u want displayed on the maxidot when u scroll through in "mfd" mode - like in the vid posted.

wat u need to make sure is that one for the "current speed" is checked (ticked).

when u return to ur maxidot display, u should then c this in ur scrolls.

This works perfectly for you because you live in Australia, which is why in the UK we have to change our car's country to Australia, and yes this enables the large MPH readout as well

This has been posted several times before on the other sub forums: Fabia II Superb II Skoda Yeti (and now Octavia II  )

Go to 17-Instruments and look under Coding, then (IIRC) on the first page, there is a drop down list of countries (it will currently be set as UK) change it to Australia, this is all you need VCDS for.

Then on the car's maxidot go to:

MFD

SETTINGS

Units,

"Consu/distance" change this back to mpg (GB), mi (as it defaults to 1/100km, km),

then

SETTINGS

"MFD data" and make sure the box for Digit.speed is ticked

then

SETTINGS

and unticked the "ALT.speed dis." box (this will remove the KPH speed and replace it with the outside temp display)

I only have the basic "S" model FL, so i guess i don't have the maxidot display. Can the large MPH be displayed on the standard display?

I drive in the EU quiet a lot and just use the smaller display, or since EU speed limits are very similar to ours, driving at our limits works well as you will be just under the EU limit in most cases.

So, for

50KMH drive at 30MPH

70KMH drive at 40MPH

90KMH drive at 55MPH

100KMH drive at 60MPH

120KMH drive at just over 70MPH,

130KMH drive at 80MPH.

Cheers gizmo for your post I ran outside just after reading it with my laptop in hand and it works perfectly. Only thing I can't seem to do is change the big mph to kmph? Is there anyway to change the big display units as you loose the small kmph display.

I would imagine (I have had no need to try it) if you changed the country to Germany then the large display would be in KPH??

When the car's country is set to Australia the small KPH display can be turned on at any time through the MFD.

Like 'kyle' can it be done in the normal FL display with VCDS ? cheers - Stuart

The display is in the MFD (maxidot) so if your car has no maxidot so I would assume it would be safe to say you cannot have the large MPH display?

Can you post some photo's of exactly what your display is capable of, this will give us a better idea.

These are the std non maxidot displays on the FL -

Stuart, it would certainly be worth getting it changed with VCDS to try, as looking at those photo's there is a good chance that it may work.

Hi 'gizmo' I will nip out now and have a go and see what comes up before I change anything - cheers Stuart. B)

Just in case you don't know where to find the country:

To change the country go to 17- Instruments and click on "Coding - 07"

17-Instruments.png

Then click on "Long Coding Helper"

17coding.jpg

Finally under Bit 4 select "70 Country: Australia (AUS)"

Longcoding-Australia.jpg

Return to previous screen where you will see that the long coding has changed, click on "Do it!" all will then be saved.

 Thanks for that, just been out and didn't find a country list anywhere but did see something about long coding - will go and check, if I write down the long coding can I just change it back ? cheers - Stuart

Yes it's always best to do a scan before any changes, I also write down ANY code before I change it ..... just in case.

 Yes it was there when I had a look so I have written down all of the codes for future ref but not changed anything yet,it did say - 02 distance impulse number2-skoda fabia/roomster(5J)&skoda yeti(5L)is that correct ?

That doesn't sound right, it should match the vehicle .... assuming you are doing this on the Octavia Scout.
