  • Author

I'm not sure if you're pulling my ***** here.....i-pod is Mac hard drive based portable mp3 player.......the very latest versions of which are now Windoz compatible. They are cool, but you know I'm biased....IF you really haven't seen one just go to apple.com and follow the music tab.....

Mac's version of an MP3 JukeBox.

Don't they sell those in joke and novelty shops?

The FM transmitter that is, not the i-pod... ;)

Rob.

for the simpsons fans amongst you, who remembers the 'super celebrity microphone' in the timmy o' toole/bart down the well episode??!!

sorry OT.

i really really want an ipod but have been stopped so far by the rather messy ways of getting my mp3s into my car - this may be the answer.

Looks very promising *if* you have an iPod. Wouldn't even need a mounting bracket - just leave it in your pocket or on the back seat :)

Having said that, you'd want to hear it in action first to gauge the quality of the received music - might sound really crappy for all we know!

I'd imagine it would sound like an FM radio...though possibly without those annoying DJs

laughing at their own jokes in between the irritating chart nonsense they play over and over

and over again...

I would hope, it's as good as the i-pod itself, but nothing like hearing it for yourself to be sure.

Although this device is only for i-pod it might encourage production other devices with a more universal fitment.....ie anything with a min-jack output, that could be really useful. These wireless adaptors are quite common in the US but I haven't seen any back here.

Ahh, Rob. I see you have listened to Capital FM then. "You too can enjoy the same 15 tunes every hour of the waking day"

Hence the Virgin "no repeat 9 to 5" (I don't listen to them either)

I wonder what sort of range these devices have? You can just imagine some idiot tailgating on the motorway tuned into the guy in front's music collection.

The way to get round this is to have appalling taste in music - I

can make some recommendations from my own collection! ;)

Only reason I've been listening to the radio is this pesky Corsa

has a tape player, and I don't have any tapes. And the whine

of the 'orrible little engine is too painful to listen to without some

effort to mask it.

Rob.

At least with the Ipod you can choose the transmission frequency too many have one set frequency. A friend had one for a mini disk which was exactly the same as Radio 2 in most bits of the country! He replaced it with a casette adapter which is what I use for MP3's and CD's.
