Upgraded from Stream to Bolero - OPS & Climate Display?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’ve bought a Bolero for my MY 2006.5 Octavia VRS. I have bought the upgraded AD gateway which I’ll fit. I was just wondering if I could upgrade the reversing sensor module to get me the optical parking system (OPS) working on the Bolero? The seller on eBay is selling an OPS module for £50. Here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PDC-Control-Unit-Parktronic-Park-Pilot-OPS-/180453498532?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems&hash=item2a03dddea4

Would this work? Do I just swap my current one for this? Is it plug and play or is it a bit more complicated? I currently have the reversing sensors fitted which comes up with the picture on my Stream MP3 stereo.

Am I right in thinking that there is no way to get the climate control display working on the Bolero in my car?

Thanks,

Dan

No one?

Think it's only possible on the FL!

I didn't think that was possible!

I'm about to fit front & rear sensors to my '07 Octy II estate and was going to upgrade to Columbus to get OPS display.

Could you post a couple of pictures of the OPS on the Stream MP3 in action and share any observations you have on the system?

Thanks

An AD Gateway is certainly new enough to support OPS on a Columbus, so I guess it should be on a Bolero as well.

The OPS module 1Z0 *** *** C is for a Skoda, but the 'C' suffix shows that it will work with 8 sensors (4 rear & 4 front). You will only need this is you have front sensors as well.

Otherwise, I believe (but don't quote me), that you will need a 'B' suffix for just the rear (assuming that the Columbus is the same as the Bolero in that respect.

Hope that limited information gleamed from this forum (and other VW ones) will help you a little. If you discover anything else, please would you share it with us all.

When I had a Stream MP3 in mine it showed the distance at each corner as a barred triangle - a bit like a mobile phone signal strength icon.

To get the same if you upgrade to a Bolero in an earlier car you will need the newer Parking Controller and then two wires need running to the CAN Gateway IIRC - there has been a thread on here before about getting it working.

What I recall from previous posts is that the older generation parking sensors were not compatible with Bolero. May be its the newer gateway and I have no clue whether your upgraded gateway supports this. Unfortunately I dont have a VAGCOM to check my FL gateway version.

Quite right, it is the parking controller that needs upgrading. The CAN Gateway upgrade will be needed to stop battery drain issues.

For the cost of the upgrade, not worth it just to get an indication of how far away from something you are - you can hear the beeps anyway and are probably not looking at your Bolero when going backwards emoticon-0144-nod.gif

I've done this too and Andy's right...it's not worth it.

Didn't realise Paul that you had done this.

It seems quite a lot of effort and cost for a pretty picture on the Bolero.

I didn't mean that I'd upgraded the canbus simply that I'd upgraded to a Bolero and read the various posts on here about losing the display etc. I soon got used to it and, as you say, the beeps are the most important thing not what's being shown on the screen.
