plug-in tuning for the Yeti?

Featured Replies

Accidentally came across this site: http://en.bsr.se/

Who claim to have a 'unit' that simply plugs into your car's diagnostic port and you can re-tune your cars bhp, torque etc. They have a branch in London, who don't seem to mention the Yeti, but most the other Skoda models. Look expensive anyway, no idea if they would work or not? but thought I would mention it.

Always been under the impression these plug and play boxes are best avoided.

Personally prefer to leave things as the manufacture intended but if you do want to modify the parameters of the ECU, then go to somewhere reputable such as Shark Performance.

I agree TP.

It's best left to someone who knows what they're doing.

For an unbiased frank appraisal speak to Ben @ Shark - pretty sure you won't be able to 'tune' via OBD port on our cars...

A 'tuning box' is another kettle of fish - again Ben will happily explain the value and pitfalls....

I thought there were very few cars that could be done through the OBD port nowadays.

I guess I must be missing a point somewhere???

With both a 140 hp and a 170 hp available straight out of the box, Why would anyone buy a 110 hp and then try to get aftermarket extra hp??

When hp is delivered from the factory, drive trains and brakes etc. are supplied to handle the extra power, where the 110 hp diesel is optimized for economy only.

As far as I'm aware nobody yet has cracked the encryption on these latest chips to enable them to be done via the OBD port.

This is how Ben at Shark Performance did mine. I would have bought a 170DSG. unfortunately they do not supply one, or a 1.8 or 2.0TSI DSG.....yet.

I'm not considering this myself, I posted this is as others have mentioned, to ask is this really possible yet?

i.e - to remap via the OBD port? As the ECU way (removal etc)presently seems the only option remapping the common rail VAG engine?

No

I have to comment on this guys... As far as reputable companies go, the Swedish BSR has done all the software work for Koenigsegg. This should count for something  Another thing - I have used BSR plug-in box for 4 years now in my Seat Leon. I think it is great product if You need to return You car to factory settings once in a while.

Looks like the Americans have cracked tuning the common rail TDi & TSI VAG cars via the OBD Diagnostic port.

I do no know enough to be really sure of this, but I assume that Skoda's system can alter whatever they want through the service hook-up.

That suggests that someone else can hack into the ECU and maybe defy the encryption. That is unless the encryption is in hardware in the car that needs to collect a vehicle specific algorithm from Skoda's server to unlock the access.
