7 speed DSG

Featured Replies

I bought a new 1.8 TSI DSG Octavia 10 months ago and generally the car is fine with no problems to speak of apart from the take-up on the gearbox from rest. Unless I am particularly careful, on occassions,it will shoot forward (or backwards)at a rate of knots that can be very disconcerting. It seems that the engine is almost too poewrful for the DSG gearbox but I'm sure this is not the case. I have read that this might be a feature of the DSG and it would be good to know if this is the case. If so is it something that might be resolved in the future as I am assuming it is not a fault.

Lynnster,

Might it be the wee delay in the electronict taking up the drive (to protect the transmission?)and since you are moving the throttle in order to get movment, but not getting a response, you subconsciousley or otherwise move it more and the delay this results in you having the throttle more depressed that was actually needed.Hence "the lurch"

I find the DSG excellent on the open road, but a trifle disconcerting when manouvering. By times I hate it in this respect.
