Skoda Fabia 1.4 8v Tuning?

Featured Replies

Is there anyway to get more power out of this engine?

If there is I don't mind info on how.

or

get a new engine block?

Yes it is tunable, but not massively so. A better starting point is the 16V.

Normal normally aspirated tuning routes apply to this car.

Yes, an engine swap is possible, how about a 1.8T? :D

Maybe Big K could comment as to whether the head from the 16V will fit?

A 1.8T engine u insane!

I'll see about whether a 16v head will fit.

Skoda is gonna do it with the vRS Fabia , im sure a VAG tuner somewhere has already done it! (Fit the eighteen tee , i mean) On the subject of your 8 Valve car , I reckon it would be cheaper to trade it in for a 16V one than tune it , but im sure you could gain maybe 10 brake or so without taking the top off the engine , ie airfilter , exhaust and decat , although I'm not sure if the bits are availible to do it!

I was just going to say is there room for 8 more valves? :D

As you can tell, I know f*** all about engines, apart from they make car's go quick!

Bah humbug I don't think I can afford another car via trade-in. :(

I know you can get 100 bhp via a turbo but then that involves major mods. :p

I don't mind gaining an extra 10-30 bhp out of the engine, I think that will make me happy for a while.

Try emailing some VAG tuning places (Jabbasport ect) they may be able to tell you if it is viable to tune her.

It has been done abroad. Not sure about here yet. I was considering it, but may just wait for the 3 door vRS instead now!

Fabia 1.8T external

Not a bad fit by the look of it! :D

Easiest options are probably induction, exhuast and possibly

cams. If you're going to start thinking about changing the

head, how about getting one made up? Some manufacturer's

quote their bespokes heads can take 100bhp per litre of engine capacity - 140bhp 1.4 8v Fabia, eh? ;)

Rob.

I'd save up a few grand first tho!! ;)

on the 1.4 the easiest way to go quicker is to make it lighter...

ditch the spare (buy tyre foam!)

boot lining

rear head rests etc

will feel like 10-15 bhp more

then try it... if you like the way it feels then good... if you like the speed you need more power !

unless you spend big money I would doubt you will get beyond 90bhp...

or buy NOS;)

I'm sure there are loads but I can think of only TSR who cater for normally aspirated engines. AmD made their name on atmo engines as well.

Checkout the TSR web site but it'll probably be better to ring AmD (as opposed to emailing them).

Cheers.

Adrian.

Looks like he/she has fitted my alloys to it as well. Yay! :D

nice looking fabia....

Nice but, IMHO, needs to be lowered. Or it could be just the camera angle.

I do know what you mean.... if you cant see sparks off the sump you need it lower;)

Can I ask what NOS means?

Nitrous Oxide System - you inject it in for big power boost...

Yay, 100 shot of NOS! :D :D

Jason, if he has your wheels, how are you getting around?

:D

lol nitrious I don't think it needs an instant shot of power :D.
