vrs bluetooth and telephone prep, what should i get?

Featured Replies

i just collected my new vrs today and part of the order i asked for blutooth telephone prep and 3 spke MFSW for radio and telephone.

When i picked the car up today i have the blutooth ok and the phone works fine, however i only have controls on the left hand side of the wheel, and nothing on the right. Is this correct? to move up and down my telephone book i have to use the controls on the stalk and i cant do it from the controls on the wheel. Should i have other controls on the right hand side of the wheel to control the phone. I paid £150 for the multifunction wheel is this what i have got?

There are two different wheels, one with only on left hand and ome with both. Your mfsw are not the one that are phone prepped.

so have i paid for something i have not got. Everything else i ordered is there.

Anyone who has ordered the wheel with phone prep have controls on both sides, if so can you post a pic so i can speak to my dealer. They say i have got what i ordered and i am not sure now.

I ordered with 3-spoke MFSW and I just got one panel with controls on the wheel. Is this wrong then?

i got the same as you, so maybe its correct. The 2 controls maybe for other models. Anyone with standard radio controls on the wheel and no blutooth prep care to post a pic.

Mfsw is as expected... Mine has buttons on the left only... :)

Not sure of the VRS but on the Elegance as I understand it.

MFSW = buttons on the left.

MFSW with phone prep = buttons on both sides.

That's why there is a price difference between the two.

As the MFSW is standard on the VRS and the MFSW with phone prep is a cost option I'd expect to see buttons on both sides.

I would have prefered if there was buttons on the wheel actually , since it's kinda hard to control the damn stick while your driving.

"Oh damn it , up one notch... where the hell is the accept button? Oh right , back there... STOP WHIPING MY WINDOWS , THEY'RE DRY! =@"

I know what you mean, On my Passat I have a 12 button MFSW which controls audio, phone functions and maxidot (Highline MFD on VW's). Then there is a seperate mini stalk for cruise control. Left hand stalk is just for light control and right hand stalk just for wipers. It's pure simplicity, even the cruise is simple and straight forward with the mini 6 way stalk.

I find the Fabia setup a pain at times especially the maxidot operation and the cruise. But I suppose £13k against £25k you can expect a few compromises.

Our new Fabia order is going to be a MY12 and we had specced it with 4 spoke MFSW with phone prep. This is no longer available and our order now states PL7 3 Spoke MFSW with phone prep so not 100% sure what we are getting.

You can go too far though, my previous car had twenty buttons and two scroll wheels on the steering but at leat the centre didn't rotate.

I have the elegance spec fabia and ordered MFSW with phone prep and it only has controls on the left. Haven't seen any with additional controls to the right. It is a pain in the ass to use the stalk. Just wished I looked more into when I placed the order. I try to avoid using the the stalk to navigate and I use the voice dial on the blackberry rather than the cars voice dial as I find it alot easier to use

Maybe it differs between countries?

In sweden you can order (when i ordered)

1: 4 spoke MFSW radio prepp (left side)

2: 4 spoke MFSW radio and phone prep (both sides)

Same options for three spoke and also non MFSW as my own.

Just checked the configurator, still the same options for three spoke.

If you ordered a phone prep stearing wheel then in sweden at least, you get buttons on both sides...

My parents have 2 sets of buttons, one on the left and one on the right, this is on their Octavia. I'm going to be thoroughly cheesed off if it's not the same on my VRS as I wouldn't have bothered paying the extra for controls on an indicator stalk. :swear:

I bought the one with phone-prep :-S.

3-spoke wheel... Should I take contact with my salesman then?

I really would! When i bought my car I drove a VRs with phone prep, sure enouhg there was buttons on both sides.

I have a phone prep steering wheel but no bluetooth...is there any way of retrofitting it?

Cheers.

Yep but it's not easy or cheap to retrofit the VAG system. I know Ben at Shark Performace does it and if you fancy DIY there are some available on ebay but you need to be confident of splicing into canbus wiring and you need VCDS for coding the system.

I went through the Skoda brochures and that is all you can get - buttons on one side.

I would be much happier if I could have a wheel like this one I found on a Polo GTi

That's just pathetic. Why don't you get 2 sets of buttons? If i'd known this I wouldn't have bothered paying extra for a phone prepped "STEERING WHEEL"

Bluetooth prep, MDI and steering wheel controls all standard on even the cheapest Fiats. All works like a dream on the wife's 500.

Personally, my car is a safe haven away from incessantly ringing telephones, and I would never spec one unless my job demanded it.

Sorry there's no point to my post .

I've spoken with my dealer today and for the 3-spoke wheel there is only one controls on the left side.

I also talked to him about MDI-cable but he claims that Skoda Sweden have different rules then Skoda UK =/.

You can fit a mObridge or Fiscon unit, no cutting of wires, just plug and play... thats what I did

That's the same as my Passat.

Works like a dream, left hand 6 buttons work head unit and MDi, right hand 6 buttons works maxidot.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you look on the new Skoda Fabia configurator if you spec the standard Multifunction Steering Wheel you get buttons on the left of the wheel.

If you spec the Multi Function Steering Wheel with phone prep you get buttons on both sides.

I've just gotten fed up with "my" salesman, he claimed that that steeringwheel doesn't exist... >.<
