Basically I got round to having a go at fitting cruise control today. Got everything on found the connectors easy enough but how the hell do you get the White wire into T11a it's impossible! You can't get to it at all, the diagram makes it look simple! I had pretty much all the dash off and still can't get to it. Please help

Any links to the kit Phil is it cheap??

Just called my local skoda main dealer. Was £67 with the loom and connectors. One problem is tho there's 1 wire that's an absolute **** to fit! Been on with it all night and I can't do it at all!

Do it the easy way then, extend the wire across to the pass side, out through the washer pipe grommets direct to the ecu and joint into the wire there.

Don't know if you've seen this or not but hopefully it helps!

That way involves cutting the wires off one of the plugs and re-wiring some of it which I'm no good at. Is it possible to get to T11a if I take the clocks out?

does this white wire have to be done on all fabias? spoke to my brother tonight about cruise and he works for VW and said hes fitted them in the past to all sorts and has never done the white wire to ECU, said its usually plug programme and play?

I didnt need to cut any wires etc. I extended the white wire to the ecu and i remember doing the brake switch bit and plugged the existing connectors into their place but nothing else and it works fine.

As Tech1e says, just extend the wire through the bulkhead. It really is not difficult at all. Saves so much time and sore hands too.

On the Fabia/Polo and Ibiza yes as they use a central electrics control unit that needs a signal wire to the ecu.

Does anyone with experience fancy having a go at it for me. Everything is connected it's just that White wire!

Seriously, just extend the white wire through the bulk head to pin 14 on the ecu.

In the Fabia-vrs guide it mentions cutting and crimping various wires. Is this not necessary then? I can't see which wires it means either really..

Now we need to make some connections, firstly cut all of the terminations from the end of the cruise loom – these aren’t required for this method.

We will be joining in the yellow pre terminated wires to the existing loom prior to fitting them in the plug.

Take two of the yellow pre terminated wires, cut the ends off to about three inches long, strip back and crimp an inline crimp to each.

Crimp the two black/yellow wires and the white 0.35mm wire from the engine bay into one end of a yellow wire you’ve made up as above.

Crimp each of the remaining three wires (blue, red/yellow, white) to the remaining three yellow wires made up as above.

No, since the guide Skoda have a fabia specific kit (i fitted my own CC last week). the only wire that needs cutting/soldering is the white wire and you need to release one wire from the brake switch loom and re-configure it as per the instructions (the bue/red one).

Get the kit from Skoda Parts as it's the cheapest place with everything you need apart from the extra white wire (speaker wire is perfect and it doesn't HAVE to be white)

Ahhh, brilliant, thanks Ricardo! I bought the kit a while ago from eBay. In this case, all I have left to do now is extend the white wire to the ECU :)

Thanks again!!

easy peasy too mate, it's the only completely white wire in the larger plug of the ECU

Ecxellent, I just need to get some wire from halfords first! As for the ECU reset to activate the cruise control, is that per the guide too or different? I'll have to take it somewhere to get that part done.

as per guide that part mate

Cool, thanks very much for your help

:)

I'm at the stage of getting the ECU reprogrammed now to recognise the cruise control. My local VAG specialist seems to think it'll take 2 hours @ £54 p/h + vat.. but I didn't!!

I bought the VAG COM lead from ebay too but can't get it working on my laptop as it doesn't recognise the port or something :(

How did you guys get your ECU's reprogrammed? Specialist or DIY?

:)

The ebay leads are ****e. They rarely work mate. You need to find a local briskodian with vcds that will enable it for you.

Do you know if VCDS-lite is capable if activating the cruise control? I've found someone who lives local and is kindly willing to help. They have the 'lite' version and said they were unsure if it would work..?

Cheers!!

as far as im aware vcds will work for activation

yes it works (see VCDS section as this question was asked in there)
