Yeti SMOC Badge Ordering Details

Hmmm..... well I'm not over impressed with the quality TBH

Removal of the backing on my 'small' footprint was a pain in the arse, the glossy backing seemed thicker and less pliable than other decals I've fitted and the cutting looks as though it is too deep, penetrating the backing sheet and causing it to delaminate and stick to the lettering.

Might see if I can source some better ones from the other guys that supply stickers on Briskoda - whose stickers I've had no issues with.

Just my 2p....

I know what you'e saying. Several other have had the same problem, including me.

The actual quality of the stickers, apart from this problem, is good though.

As I said before I used to run a sign business and the problem is caused by incorrect pressure settings on the plotter Dian used to cut these.

I did point this out to him last week ( too late for the orders already sent, unfortunately) but when I received the 2nd lot, ordered after this, they were the same.

I had great difficulty removing the backing and I have had experience of this fault before so you lot must be pulling your hair out?

I couldn't get the lettering to stick on the SMOC badge, but the foot still looks good. Second time around with the Yeti surround was easier.

If you have yet to order, I suggest ordering at least one spare for practice.

Good advice from Yellowyeller, get a spare if you've not used these before.

After a few hicups applying my original stickers I re-ordered a second set last Monday afternoon and they arrived Thursday morning, excellent sevice, thanks Dian.

I applied the sticker "dry" after cleaning the glass with IPA (not the India Pale sort) and with the benefit of previous experience managed to separate the backing with just a couple of slices with a scalpel and fitted to glass, no problems.

i had no trouble applying mine ( silver on blue car ) it just took a while to get the backing off

Stickers arrived today, and I'm off work Friday and Saturday................

Got my Yeti on ok first time.

Sits slightly higher on the car than Yellowyeller placed theirs.

Unsure whose placement i like best at the moment :wonder:

Skipped on the footprint due to others having a fiddly time with it and my lack of patience with fiddly things.

A photo is required to settle this...

well this is what i ended up with..

i didn't like the look of the whole SMOC logo above the TDi so i cut it off.

turns out it fits very nicely under the wiper. :)

I think the hands need to be slightly higher, then it looks like he/she/it is holding the words. :giggle:

I'm thinking of putting the external footprint in the top middle of the windscreen, but quite like that idea over the Tdi badge.

Oh bloody hell Graham! :S

I originally positioned it like that but it looked slightly disconnected.

My thinking was to have the hands slightly lower so it sort of looks like the yeti is cuddling the word. :)

Ah, so Yeti is cwtching the words.........like that, clever. :giggle:

Overall I quite like that. Job well done.

PS> (off topic) were you on the M25 this afternoon around 4:45pm by J23 going clockwise in lane 2 driving sensibly; black roof box up top?

not me i'm afraid.

i try to avoid the M25 as much as possible.

there is another muscovado round here, that does have a roof box quite often, and it has a private plate similar to mine.

1st time i saw it i was walking and i thought someone had nicked MY car :o

That must be the one; it did have a private plate J 52 CBT or similar (notable).

I might see you another day. ;)

I try and avoid the M25 as well; although now they have completed the 4-lane widening from J17 round to J21a traffic does flow better.

Yes it does...

Till it meets the back of the queue going up to J23 :giggle:

IMHO got to be the 'cuddles' version adopted by CFB.

+1 Sticking it too high up makes it look lost!

Why, thank you sir!

Obviously I have to agree, but I didn't want to be 1st to say it :p

I think you are right that it is slightly too high.

I was going more for the "about to grab" the yeti badge.

The cuddle version looks a bit low, for me personally, but i'm not sure i got it right either.

If you're finding it difficult to decide, try this...

Trace the yeti onto a piece of paper and colour it in so it looks like the real thing.

Cut it out and then you can stick it in different places with masking tape till you're happy. Take a photo when you've decided so you know where it was when you apply the real sticker.

Now that is a very good idea

Did a friendly smiling Yeti like the Russian version ever get done?
