Hi all,

Im looking at buying a Fabis VRS diesel, my current car is a golf 1.8t and im looking to buy something more fuel efficient as i drive 300 mile to work and back each week, but also I want to have some power under foot.

I'm after some buying advice - anything I need to know, any common problems to look out for etc.. I do plan on having it remapped but thats about it for mods, maybe change the ice.

Any suggestions welcome, my budget is around 5k

Have a look around the Fabia 1 forum. There are plenty of threads about the common faults and fixes for them as well as buying advice.

Common things to look out for are to make sure it's been serviced with the correct oil (VW 501.01), worn console bushes and leaky rear doors.

5k should get you a fairly decent one though
