Hi there,

My folks have a 2011 Superb Elegance with sat nav, the maps are a little dated and I am just wondering where one can get the map updates for it?

Any help appreciated.

Your dealer should have given you v.7 disc.

Phil

Cheers for that Phil, I'll check in the car and if not I'll get them to check with the dealer.

Thanks

Michael

A quick check and you can see what version you have, if you can input 7 digit post codes you have the most up to date version

Will check when I am back up home the car is only around 3 months old but the maps on it don't show road that were built a few years ago so it definitely needs a map update at least.

My car had old maps and no disc when I took delivery. I took it up with the dealer and received a v.7 disc FOC.

Keep us posted.

I picked up my superb late march but, don't know what version maps I have.

Roads in the area that were upgraded late 2009 are shown but, the Limerick tunnel (Aug 2010) is not shown.

Try a full UK postcode. It it works then you should have v.7

Phil

That's not strictly true as the 7-digit postcode search is also firmware dependant.

To give you an example, I picked up my Octy vRS with Columbus just over two months ago.

V7 maps installed and V7 maps DVD given to me - however no 7-digit searching.

Bit of research and the firmware I had installed wouldn't allow 7-digit searching.

Skoda are not interested in doing your firmware upgrade.

Unless they have changed the description on the website, the Columbus description doesn't actually mention 7-digit searching.

We know it can do it with the correct map/firmware combination.

However as it isn't listed as a "feature" Skoda won't do the firmware upgrade (just from my experience).

Not a problem, I just downloaded the latest stable firmware and installed it myself.

However it in turn wiped the HD - so I had to reinstall my maps and copy all my music over again.

To those with "dodgy" EBay purchased Columbus - update firmware at your own risk.

Majority of the Ebay units are of questionable herritage and one of the ways they get around the code issue is to soldier some components and attempting to update the firmware may brick your unit.

Absolutely the case in the South-East - the dealers don't have a clue about firmware and no interest in it either. I'd bet that their personal mobiles, computers, etc. are all updated regularly, but when it comes to a computer in a car, they're clueless.

Shameful! :(

Phil

Just tried a 7 fig UK postcode (Northern Ireland) and, it works ok.

Looks like as if I have v.7

Thanks for help.

Is there a charge for map updates? I know you recent buyers are getting it free by pushing the dealer but mine is just over a year old and they don't seem interested. Does it have a part number? Is it downloadable anywhere?

Phill

Your dealer can order in a copy for you.

If you have an old version then you can buy the new version at a discounted rate.

Is it downloadable anywhere?

Phill

Talk on how to acquire the maps illegally is not allowed on Briskoda an any posts mentioning this will be deleted.

The only place you can get these maps legally are a VW, Seat or Skoda dealer. The latest is Version 7.2 and the part number is either

1T0 919 859B

or

1T0 051 859R

Not sure which is the part number but these are the part numbers on the DVD.

I have just had my mps updated for free, by skoda.

I have 2009 car with v 3 maps, when I contacted Skoda customer care to find out about an update I was told that the local dealer can do it, also that if the maps was only to be updated it would be free, but if I wanted a new version of the disc to keep there would be a charge.

So fare enough when I contacted my local dealer. I was ask if I wanted to buy a new disc, which I stated no just an update, I was told to come in when I wanted and have a coffee while the maps were updated.

There is a charge to update the firmware but none for maps only.

So Skoda will update mpas for free, but VW will charge £80 mmmm

Summary phone customer services or contact your local dealer, but you will not be required to pay for a map update. It only took about 30 to 40 minutes

folks, sorry if this is a stupid version but how do i check the mapversion and firmware? I have a 61 plate superb elegance which didnt come with a dvd (dealer and now skoda state it is up to the dealer!)

I suspect the map is out of date as roads that have been open for more than a year still arent on it.

I checked mine and it's only 4 digit on Post Code search so asked dealer if they would update to latest maps FOC stating I didn't want the media just the update, they said no problem bring it in and it'll be 30 mins to an hour tops :-)

Hi,

is there any chance you could share the firmware update links you used. I've just bought a 2nd hand 58 Reg Superb II Elegance and I'd like to update the unit to the latest available f/w and maps. I guess f/w is the first thing to sort out. I've had a search for various sites but they seem very US orientated and the last thing I want to do is brick my unit. So if you know of a reliable source for european info to

1. Determine which version of 510 unit you have

2. Advise which f/w version this unit can be updated to (would be nice to get 7 digit postcode searches!)

3. Has links to the f/w (and advice on any upgrade path which sould be followed based on (1).

it would be really useful. I'd be reluctant to proceed unless I was confident the f/w update would be sucessful.

If anyone knows of about midlands based installers who could do this (and fit MDI at the same time) please share as well. I've yet to locate anyone who seems to be doing professional retrofits on these units..

Any advice/feedback appreciated.
